    Low pressure mag need insight.

Recently I have been reading alot on cocker versus mag. I dont beleave cockers shoot further. I dont beleave they have a flatter tragectory. I do beleave a cocker is more accurate!!!

Now hold on, there is only one reason I say this, the cocker has less kick when firing. Its true, I love my mag and use nothing else when playing, but the cocker is a more stable platform to fire a paintball from.

Now, because I hate this thought so much my brain started turning its frozen wheels again, I remembered reading something about a magic box that was tapped into the mags air chamber thus increasing its size in volume.

So having a small amount of common sense I figure if this was done then maybe I could use a lighter spring on my lvl 10 bolt. If I did that couldnt I lower the retro valves velocity adjuster which = lower pressure!!! The retrovalve should keep up with the recharge rate because I average 10 - 12 balls / sec thats half of its max speed.

Lower pressure has less kick which means a more stable platform to shot my paintballs. Also lower pressure is a little quiter when shooting nice bonus too. Would this mean better accuracy??

So what I need are more brains like yourself to help figure if this would work and maybe point out possible problems with this idea so I dont trash my mag being stupid. Also I somebody could get this forwarded to Tom Kaye I would love to hear is thoughts on this. He is the man on mags after all.

    Thank you everyone!!!!!! [email protected]

The magic box was found to be nothing more than an expansion chamber and didn't serve to lower the pressure of the mag.

And FYI- the input pressure of the mag is 600+psi, internal regulated pressure is 450psi but the on-ball pressure is 65psi. You don't get much lower pressure than that.

do cockers have less kick than mags? I shot my freind's eblade the other day (running at 300psi with aa rat 3:16 valve) and it had more kick than my classic mag. I've always heard they have way less kick but from personal experience i cant really beleive it.

Depends on cocker. My teamates Karnivor is pretty smooth. I shot a worrbladed 03 vert the other day that had mad kick for a paintball gun. As far as the Lp mag idea goes. Its been pondered and tried before with dismal results. My advice... If its not broke dont fix it till it is.

I'm with you. Every cocker I've shot had more kick than my mag. *shrug* I guess it just depends on what you are used to.

Dayspring, Thanks for the feed back. I am wondering something though, do you really believe it takes 385+ psi to compress the bolt spring in a mag ? seems a little much to me!!
Why do mags say to put 800 psi into the reg body according to the books or do you have a magic mag, oh and lets not forget the 65 psi behind the ball theory, where did this number come from, you might think somebody might compare low pressure to a mag once in a while in an article or two, I havent read one yet.
I dont mean to bash on you but I think your way wrong, but if there is someway you can show me where these numbers came from I would be happy to say sorry, until then I would like constructive help on the idea.
Also, people should realize "dont fix what aint broke" gets you no where. Im just thinking out load looking for someone to logically help or explain thing to me.

A moron can put up 6000 posts doesnt mean they know more. Thats a dumb thing to say. I spent a while reading toms tech classes too. Good stuff!!! Thanks everyone for the help I'm glad I didnt trash my mag on a bad idea. You all saved my mag.

I don't know man he's kinda got you there. You did imply that more posts = more knowledge, which isn't true. Nobel12 didn't say that he knows more than or that Dayspring doesn't know his stuff, in fact he explicitly stated the opposite.

Doesn't it seem like a cocker has more has moving back and forth (bolt, rod, block etc.) than a mag and should therefor have more kick for a given gun weight? Especially with a level X mag bolt.

Nothin real informative to add here, but you might want to put stuff like this in either the Workshop or Deep Blue. You're likely to get better answers from the people who frequent those places than in here. Man I love that quote; "If it ain't broke, fix it till it is."
