    Real Bad velocity problems!!

I choronoed my gun yesterday and it was shooting anywhere from 270fps-290fps. I have an ACI Bulldog 3 tank with an 800psi output and macroline linking from the asa directly to the AIR valve. I Currently changed the regulator body from a "check it" regulator body to an OEM AGD regulator body(body itself with no regulator piston or z-lock pin). The only parts that i had to transfer from the "check it" regulator body was the regulator piston (brass encasing an allen wrench type screw) and the Z-Lock pin. I did remember that the green o-ring surrounding the regulator piston was a bit tore up. I changed the regulator seat and snapped it on to the regulator body (made a clicking noise) but the thing is that this regulator seat has about 20shots through it and barely had any wear marks surrounding it. Im guessing its the regulator seat. The gun itself shoots great and can shoot strings of paint but the only thing thats bugging me is the velocity readings. I have a .689(i think) DYE SS 12 inch barrel. The gun was oiled very well, I was also resting the muzzle brake onto the rubber piece of the chronograph. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED!

20 fps isn't a severe flutaction in velocity. You don't seem to have bad spikes or a huge drop off. Your problem could be old or inconsistant paint.

really!?? Alot of the posts on here i see people complaining about + or - of 5-7fps.
The gun would shoot 290, 270, 280,295 the numbers were around that area.

It may well be your tank. ACI BulldogIII's only give out around 700 psi and drop down to 600 ish when you pull the trigger (and it stays for a while). They have a slow recovery time. Put a gauge on your input asa. You will be surprised. I was. Now have a Dynaflow.

The above point is a good one. If your tank reg can't keep up with the necceasry OP you will have shootdown.

Any new parts that need to be broken in can cause some fluctuations until they wear in. Lower quality paint, or a bad batch of paint can also cause similar problems.

I know how people love to boast about a 289, 289, 287, 290 that they shot over the chrono. Stand at a chrono station for 5 minutes and you can dispell those myths quite quickly.
