    Is Hoppes No.9 Oil Corrosive To O-Rings?

    I did a search and didn't find any real straight foward answers, pretty much i've use No.9 on both of my tippys,my mag and will probably continue to use it on a GX-3 autococker i might be getting, and im pretty much just wondering, i've heard lots of opinions but no real facts, can anyone help me? thanks for any info

      No. The "petroleum eats orings" myth (i feel rediculus even repeating it) is a tenacious one.

        it's not a myth.

        Petroluem based lubricants for the most part contain solvents that will damage buna and urethane orings.

        However, Hoppes #9 does not contain these solvents, and is the only Hoppes formula suited for use in paintball.

              I like you have used Hoppes 9 on my tippy and old minimag for years. Now that I have newer ULE x-vlaved mag i switched over to KC Trouble free just because it is a superior lubricant and doesn't break down as fast as Hoppes does.

                ive been using the reugular hoppes (orange bottle) for about 6 years on my spyder and the only oring i replaced on it was the hammer.

                        i heard gold cup/auto lube stains the orings a brownish/yellow color and tends to dry up or something, well thats what ive been reading from AO.
