Hey, i'm just wondering how many shots i can expect out of a 48/3000 steel tank, on my new RT ULE Custom. Also, i'll be gettin a PE 68/4500 soon, any ballpark estimates on how many shots?

let's compare theat method to actual air consumption just fo the heck of it shall we?
that tank hold about 9613 cu in of air. your operating pressure is about 470 with a lvl 10(at 280 fps).
that means you can't use the last 1482 cu. in. in the tank. so that leaves you with 8131.
now assuming the operating psi of 470, and a residual pressure of about 60 psi(?) that means the gun uses about 14.5 cu in per shot. so 8131 divided by 14.5 is 560. so I'm guessin the most you could possibly get is about 560.
so that's a little better by that method, but that still assumes things. you might use more air, depending on velocity, temp, elevation, and your lvl10 set-up.~E~Comment

On a 3000psi tank you can figure 10shots per cubic inch. So 47 x 10 = 470, you could estimate 470 shots per tank.
On a 4500psi tank you can figure 15shots per cubic inch. Hope this helps.
Am I to conclude then that the shocker has better air efficiency?Originally posted by the electricianlet's compare theat method to actual air consumption just fo the heck of it shall we?

Chill man. I'm not concluding, I'm asking if I can conclude that? (not sure if I forgot to punctuate the question or not) Math isn't something I'm good atOriginally posted by the electricianwhy would you conclude that?
It just seems to me that 500 plus shots out of a 68/4500 is on the low side.
That would go some way to explain why one doesn't see many mags in the tourney scene nowadays.

no they were saying 500 shots out of 47 ci 3k tank. out of the 68/45 youll get about a thousand give or take.

with a 68/4500 it would be more like 1200 shots.~E~Comment

Electrician, could you explain where you got those numbers? Like 9613cu of air? I'd just like to be able to figure out how many shots my 68cu 3000psi tank gives me on my lvl 10 x-valved mag. But I still don't understand your formula. Could you walk me through the formula using a 68/3k tank?Comment

well I use a custom made spread sheet design by my good friend. he basically design gas refineries for conoco.
but the tank volumes are public info you can obtain at the manufactureres website.
tank volumes:
47/3000 --5.56 cu. ft.
45/4500 --7 cu. ft.
68/3000 --8 cu. ft.
68/4500 --11 cu. ft.
there are 1728 cu. in. of air in a cubic ft. so just multiply by that to get the total in cu. in.
there's a few others, but that's the basics.
I take the pressure reading on the mag, and other guns personally, along with dump chamber volumes.
then I come up with cu. in. of air per shot.
I use the spread sheet to come up with how many cu. in. in the tank can't be used, due to the operating pressure of the gun being the lower limit of consumption.
the rest is just simple math.
what is you specific mag set-up? then we can get some accurate numbers.~E~Comment

My specific setup is:
X-Valve
Lvl 10
ULT
ULE CF Body
11.5" J&J ULE 2-Peice
MacroLine
Nitro Duck MicroReg 68/3k tank
Check-It Unimount
AIC Qloader
Logic 90* v1.0 Frame
Logic Alpha Rail
Logic gas-thru Foregrip
Or did you just want the things that effect air? In that case:
X-Valve
Lvl 10 (2 shims + #1.5 carrier)
ULT (4 shims)
11.5" J&J ULE 2-Peice
MacroLine
Nitro Duck MicroReg 68/3k tank
Check-It Unimount
Logic Gas-Thru ForegripComment

And im gettin my ule custom soon. I hope i get the air efficency the previous have mentioned.
