okay, lvl 10 increases consumption and operating psi, but personally I think it's worth the trade.

so your using about 14.5 cu. in. per shot, and you can't use the last 1482 cu. in. of the tank.

a 68/3000 holds 8 cu. ft. of air, or 13824 cu. in. so subtract the 1482 you get 12342.
divided by 14.5 gives you 851 maximum possible shots at approx. 280 fps, 70degrees.

      a 114 cu. in. tank holds 32,684 cu.in.
so using a lvl 10'd mag you'll get a max of 2151 shots.

now those are maximum possible. you will probably get about 90% of that, due to differences in conditions.

Cool, I usually play indoors anyway at around 250fps so I should probably get a little more than 850 shots. How many more shots might decreasing your velocity by about 30fps get you? 10 or 15 maybe?

          take into account

Electrician, you're good, I would like to add that I beleive a tank that goes UP TO 4500 will hold the same amount of air as a 3000psi, when filled up to 3000 PSI. I don't know about you guys, but the suba store here won't fill my scuba tank over 3500 PSI on a good day. Therefore my 4500 tank is more like a 3000 psi tank. Same should apply to all you guys, unless you're filling to 4500 psi.

You guys can run your tanks down past 1000 psi (around 470-500psi)? Once I get lower than a 1000, I chuff every once in a while and by 800, I'm about out! I only work best above 1000psi.

            aw crap!!

            apparently I'm not that good.

I screwed up on the numbers for the 68's and the 114.

I used the wrong number for the unusable amount of air. the bigger the tank, the more air in it that can't be used due to the operating psi being the absolute bottom limit.

            I'll try again, my apologies.

            okay,

these numbers will ALL be using a lvl 10, shooting at 280 fps, at 70 degrees. and remember, they are maximum possible shots, not how many your going to get in a game. once your pressure gets down too low, the valve does not recharge fast enough, and you cannot shoot very fast.

            a 68/3000-- has 13908 minus 2144 leaves 11769 divided by 14.5 gives you 811 shots.

            a 68/4500-- has 19495 minus 2144 leaves 17351 divided by 14.5 gives you 1196 shots.

            a 114/4500--has 32684 minus 3595 leaves 29089 divided by 14.5 gives you 2006 shots.

now, chirogator mentioned that he only shoots best above 1000 psi. personally, I haven't had any problems shooting down to 800 psi, but we can use 1000 psi to run some numbers.

he also mentions that he does not get a full fill, I usually do at the paintfield. they can get you up there, and by the time it cools down, it's about 4000 psi.

but we can try it both ways here.

so that would be 4828 cu.in. of unusable air, in a 68 cu.in. tank when you can only go down to 1000 psi.

let's say you only get your 3000 tank to 2500, that means it only has 11790 in it.
so 11790 minus 4828 leaves 6962 divided by 14.5 gives you 480 shots.

now a 68/4500 filled, and then cooled down to 4000 has 17760 cu.in. in it.
so 17760 minus 4828 leaves 12932 divided by 14.5 gives you 892 shots.

these numbers might apply better to what the average conditions people are going to experience.

              genius

Oh my god! You are quite the intelligent paintballer, and number savy. Thank you (I speak for everyone with a tank) for putting that much thought, time, and effort into this. Quite impressed, I must say!
