This is Paintballs most ridiculous argument, akin to Chevy Vs Ford Vs Dodge ad nauseum.
They are equal in actual performance, accuracy, distance, etc, etc, etc... No gun will outrange another if both are shooting at the same speed: 300fps is the same from ANY gun; a 300fps ball will go a set distance from ANY gun; accuracy is a sole function of paint to barrel fit, not closed or open or boltless guns. Tell your bud to do some research of his own and quit repeating "tales from the crypt".
