Looking for a Cocker Wizard in Seatle Area

    Hey All

I have a small problem I am trying to help out with..

I recently sold a marker to a kid (on Ebay).. Any ways, when I sold it before I sent it I tested the marker and it worked fine for me..

I shipped him the marker a few weeks ago and last night I got a phone call from his mother(?) who said that they took it to a local store and where told that it has to have all sorts of work done to it, including putting a HPA reg on it and stuff like that.. First, they told the mom that with out the reg running air on it would damage it.. NOT BUYING IT!!

This is a Old School Cocker that was built to run on CO2!!! Sure HPA is High Pressue, but CO2 I think is the ulitimate in High Pressure??

ANY WAYS here is what I am looking for.. Some one who really knows cockers, how they work and such and would be willing to sit down with this 14 your old kid and just go over how the cocker works..

Currently the Mother indicates that when gassed up they get air pouring down the barrel and it will not cock all the way back.. I believe the issue to either be timing OR possibly the reg knob on the front block just needs to be turned in a little to get the full amount of pressure going to the marker..

As I explained to the mother, this marker is about 9 to 10 years old (as I stated in my add on Ebay), I havent used it for like 4 years as I kind of dropped out of the sport. Now I am back and bought a different Marker (a Mag) and sold off my cocker..

I can't pay you and to be honest it would be a good will kind of deal for the kid.. I just want to see him happy with it and I know it is a good marker..

Can some one out there help out?

    Thanks all..

im in iowa but you could tell them to go to all of the cocker timing websites and faq's

    air-powered.com
    endlesspb.com
    etc...

i learned how to build and time an autococker when i was 14 by reading all of the cocker faq's dozens of times.

How far do they have the velocity nut down. Leaking down the barrel, either bad cup seal or velocity nut adjusted to far in, there will to much force on the hammer spring causing it not to recock and it could cause enough force to push the valve open a little. If it has a adjustable LPR, they should put 2 full turns on the nut then adjust the LPR. I doubt the store sweetspotted the reg.

This is a real old school cocker..

Would the front reg on the front block do it? I seem to remember it use to do that when I didnt have the knob turned in enough..

How do you adjust the velocity? There must be a way to set hammer spring tension. Yes, not having enough input pressure from you LPR will not make the marker recock. Did you ask if he messed with the sear at all? What is his input pressure from the in-line reg? Sorry I can't be any more help, never seen an old cocker before up close.

I'm in Moscow, ID, about 6 hours from Seattle. If you want to have the kid call me I can problably talk him though it. The problem is that if the marker has already been messed with (like any 14yr old does) it may need to be totally readjusted and re-timed. If air is pouring down the barrel either he doesnt have the cocking rod cocked, or it wont cock because the hammer lug needs to be adjusted in or the valve is bad. If the recock pressure isnt high enough it just a matter of turning the LPR up.
