    Fried your Automag Lately?

Well I finally decided to do some home anodizing. Went the smart way and asked my chemistry teacher to help. Anodized a few pieces of scrap aluminum and a spare trigger frame. Looked nice on both occasions. The the big day came, Time to do my RT Classic body! The thing is that the bodies are an aluminum alloy so its kinda didnt work. Came out of the anno bath lookin like it ahd survived a fire. Now I need a new RT Classic body! Please if anyone had one post! Or if you know of a solution( car paint, ect...) I also could use the front grip and mount for it. Ive got a Warp I can trade or sell and cash! AIM is DiabloHaze87, Email at [email protected]. Thanks!

by classic body do you mean powerfeed left/right or standardfeed left/right? the only mainbodies that will anodize are ULE centerfeed and ULE warp left/right bodies - everything else is steel and will just pit in an anodization tank.

LOL yeah, those bodies aren't aluminum. They're steel.

I found that part out the hard way! Its all good though. RT Classic bodies can only fit the Rt valves(not RT pro, the one before). I need a body now so anyone with one just layin around Ill but it. Doesnt matter what feed. Just need a RT Classic body ASAP!

Oh yeah, by the way, what method did you use? You don't have to type it all out or anything but a link would be cool. I've been wanting to do this for some time now and I've never got around to it. Did you get pics of what you did do by any chance? Thanks and good luck

It's kinda obvious by the weight of the RT body that it's STEEL. You cannot annodize steel, you can POWDERCOAT IT.

Spray it down with oven cleaner......I have removed anno from many paint ball part with that.....THen I pollish them, nice and shinny. If you ask me all the brightly colored annodized guns are cheeze. When I am shooting at others I want something that looks like a WMD, not a 10 year olds squirt gun. Mind you I have never used oven cleaner on steel but I am sure that you could not make it worse!

RT bodies are an alloy. Not all steel. They an aluminum, copper, steel combination. It took color in places but not others. I got the instructions off warpig.com

All non Aluminum AGD bodies are Stainless Steel.

Steel is by it's nature an alloy, so you are correct.

However, there is no Aluminum or Copper in the alloy.

You're quite lucky the body survived the acid bath.

I would suggest sanding, polishing, and buffing the body back to its original finish.

I would think the tolerances would be too far off for it to work right after what sounds like severe pitting, then sanding and polishing...
I don't think it's gonna work right anymore.

Considering this forum is owned by the company that made your gun, wouldn't it have been a good idea to just ask here if they could be annodized before you took that drastic step? You have to admit, not the brightest move on your part.
