WHY ARE WE TALKING IN THIS TONE OF VOICE! dude, cuz cocker barrels are cheaper to produce than autumag barrels. Sell your old barrels to some poor sap who owns an old automag and he'll probably love 'em. Or keep 'em yourself to remember the old days. I don't know.

yea, dont forget that almost every barrel made is made in autococker threads. and twistlock is way too complicated with nubbins, orings, etc.
Yummy yummy yummy, I've got fun in my tummy.

        hit what you shoot at

You might not think of it , but the twist lock barrels move around when you shoot.
If you put a threaded barrel in its place you'll be more accurate over a group of shots.
There is your reason for the autococker threading, and like they said before. Tell me a company that does'nt make a barrel for a cocker.

        ie: more choices for you

( dont knock it till you try it , it's the shiz-nit )

erm, not really. the bolt locks the barrel in place before the shot is fired, so it's a fairly stable platform. the reason agd decided to go with cocker barrels was mainly because of all the major barrel manufacturers dropping twist-lock from their inventories. it's gotten really hard to find any newer barrel in twist-lock, but you can get any of them in cocker threads.

"Barrel wobble" can be fixed with a shim and doesn't effect accuracy in the first place... it wobbles after the ball is out of the barrel.

But I suppose this is all moot now, since we switched to cocker barrels.

The reason I heard they switched to Cocker barrels was this. In an Automag barrel, the breech is actually part of the barrel, so when people started trying to make sized barrels for the Automag they realized the bolt had to push into the barrel, and if the barrel was made too small this wouldn't work. The ultimate fix for this was to make a solid breech for the bolt to pass through. So they decided to drop the Automag barrel with integrated breech for a breech cut into the main body and a barrel affixed to the end.

Cocker threads were chosen because they are the most popular threading available.
