    Couple questions concerning ancient mag

Hi all, I have an old mag that is pre #500 and wanted to do a few things to it. First off I saw the AIR valve exchange thing and thought about doing that. Is that still going on? Mine is looking its age, you can barely see the writing on it anymore, its got some surface rust, and tends to be somewhat moody at times. Second I was thinking of getting a black minimag body on it, would that fit on mine? I put a automag PF body on it about 2 years ago. Then I chanced upon a new minimag on paintballgear.com for $300 and thought it might be better to just get a whole new gun. It wouldn't have the black body I wanted though. What do you guys think I should do? Exchange and body or new minimag? Either way its $300

      New Gun

I'd buy a whole new gun. But what's that black thing on the side of the gun?

Its a laser dot scope. Don't know about the new mags but the old mag rail had sight rails built into either side of them. Figured it was a good spot to mount a sight and it looks pretty cool to.

The old rail is grooved for the pump arms, but claw sight mounts do work! Plus, I bet that Tom would love to see it again. He probably built it himself!

          NEW VALVE EXCHANGE PROGRAM
          Effective January 1st 2000

          --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Since we have changed our warranty policy on older markers, we feel it would be helpful to offer owners of older AUTOMAGs (serial numbers lower than 30000) and MINIMAGs (serial numbers lower than 8000) a way to purchase warranty service for these older markers. Customers may call us and make arrangements to send their old Valve Assembly to us and purchase, at a reduced price, one of the Valve Assemblies listed below:

          68 Automag Classic Valve Assembly
          68 Automag Powerfeed Valve Assembly
          MINIMAG Valve Assembly

          (*)
          (***)
          (****)

          $130.00
          $150.00
          $160.00

As noted by the * symbols above, there are one, three, or four stars laser engraved above the serial number on each Valve Assembly. Each star entitles the owner to a free repair. An owner has the option to pay a $45 rebuild fee or use one star. If the owner chooses to use a star, we will drill a small dent into one of the stars indicating that one of the free repairs has been used. There is a 30 day warranty on any repair work we perform, whether it is done for free by using a star or by paying the $45 rebuild fee. When the stars are gone, the valve is out of warranty.

This Valve Exchange Program is also available to customers who purchase used Field Guns (which have no warranty at all). It is also available to customers whose Valve Assemblies have been damaged while being modified.

Please call us to supply your valve information before shipping your Valve Assembly to us!

Prices are in US Dollars and are subject to change without notice.

i would upgrade it, with r/t and new body only because how many people here can say they have an automag that old, kinda like a historic piece... but the upgrades you mentioned, you will probably want to do on new one once you get it, and mini body will work on your frame. besides you will have a new marker with those upgrades anyway. Also consider H.P.A., two finger trigger (intelliframe), drop forward, Warp feed, to name a few...Good Luck !!!!

Here ya go, just so you all don't think I'm lying. Maybe it would be a good idea to keep the old valve. I dunno. Still works good, never let me down.

I'd upgrade to retro, hpa, and intelliframe if you can afford it. You would save some money doing this because you aren't buying unnecessary parts when buying a new mag. I think the go retro program is still going on so it would be a good idea to use the exchange program.

                  Buy a whole new gun.
Yours is historic and cool for the low serial number alone.
                  Is good!

Yeah I would keep that golden oldie and try to clean that rust up and put it in a case or something for display!!! Thats a great peice! Maybe send it back to AGD and have them clean it up for you and replace all the O rings and stuff, im sure they would love to see it! Then just keep it and get a new minimag and start fresh. Then upgrade the new gun with HPA and Intelliframe and so on. Thats just my two cents.

Ok ok...I give in. I'll keep the valve. Hows this on for size? New RetroValve with black minimag body and a max flow 4500psi setup and a dye single trigger 45 frame? I'd get the intelli but I hate double triggers. I think that would work out quite well. A bit on the pricey side though.

Like Udtseal said, some how get it to AGD and let them go over the whole gun w/ new soft parts and a new setup and make it shoot like it was brand new. That only costs $45, and perhaps you could tell them you'd like a minimag body installed while it's there.

                            In any case, keep it.:)

That gun is a golden oldie I'd pay a lot of money for it just to stick it on my shelf. (Of course I don't have any money LOL) How'd you get that a hold of that beauty?
