    HPA Question

    Greetings,

I'm new to using HPA.... I THINK I know the answer to this, but I wanted to ask jsut to make sure I didn't destroy my valve.

My 68 Automag's valve in the back says, "Rated to 3000PSI". Does this mean I cannot use a 4500PSI tank?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it should be ok since the output is usually 850PSI ish.....

    Just wanted to be sure....

    Thanks

    Short Answer:

You can use a 4500psi HPA tank. That is the max storage pressure of the tank, not the output.

    Long Answer:

An automag's valve can take in air at up to 3000psi, hence why they are rated at 3000psi. However, it is recomended that the input be somewhere in the range of 600-900psi. Most HPA tanks (high pressure ones) have a pre-set output at about 800-850psi, obviously you can adjust the output of adjustables.

The engraving on the valve means that if for some reason your tank decided to empty 3000psi into your valve, it won't explode and kill you.

          but but but

You know you could run the valve at 3000 all day and it has been tested at well above 5000 so it Could take a 4500 hit no problem.

AGD doesnt kid around with safety

          And Welcome To AO fpineda
