    Problems with used mag

I just got a used powerfeed mag a couple days ago, with a retrovalve, level 10, intelliframe, and a couple of nitro tanks for 300. i also got a max flow to go with it for 150. The guy told me it had a leak but should be easy to fix, so I went through the level 10 tuning video and instructions here, and cleaned and oiled it all up, etc. I went to my field for the first time yesterday, and I was gonna have him set up some macroline on it and help me get it all tuned up, etc. He proceeded to call it an auto*** and tell about how they suck in cold weather blablabla, I wasn't surprised. He couldn't get it to shoot, and didn't really have any knowledge about mags and just told me to fix it myself and that I got ripped off. So I just played the day with my Piranha.

So then I got home and started to mess with it myself, but realized that even with the many hours ive spent reading over this forum, it would be best to just ask for help. So here are the problems I've noticed:

    1. My maxflow has a leaky guage, so im using a screw in crossfire 45/3k. When I screw it in, it sort of sounds like its rapid firing, but the trigger isn't moving at all. It stops when I pull down the trigger, but the in leaks a little from somewhere.

    2. The velocity adjusting nut appears to be stripped. Maybe I just need to adjust my velocity. I managed to get it to unscrew quite easily with a pliars.

    3. The sear pin appeared to be touching the trigger, which ive heard is supposed to be about a milimeter away from it. I doubt this was a big deal, but I tightened it so it looks about right.

    All help is greatly appreciated!

If the trigger rod is touching the trigger the sear won't catch all of the bolt and waalaa full auto, pulling the trigger will close the on/off valve so no air fills the chamber and it stops shooting.

Check for wear on your bolt and sear, its possible that they adjusted it so it would work and its worn down the bolt so it won't catch on the sear anymore. But it sounds like your also having a problem with the on/off if you still hear leaking when the trigger is pulled.

Get a new velocity nut, or just pick up a cheap one off ebay, they always have cheap ones for around $9 new. Also check and make sure all your seals are ok in your on/off.

My sear and bolt look fine. If you think it has something to do with the on off, then what might be wrong with it, and also how do you take it off? Also, which spring should I be using. From shortest to longest i have a gold, black, red, and silver.

Sorry should have been a little more clear.
It stops when I pull down the trigger, but the in leaks a little from somewhere.
When you pull the trigger the on/off should seal and no air should be flowing so you shouldn't hear a leak from the valve, if you are hearing a leak it has to be the on/off, or a leak from the back velocity nut if theres too much pressure, or on if you air connections before the valve. Those are the only real places you could have the leak and you should be able to narrow it down if its the air connections or out of the back of the valve. If its not one of those 2 it has to be the on/off but this wouldn't make it rapid fire unless its sticking.

To take out the on/off its the brass piece on the bottom of the valve, you can just pry it out with a screwdriver and pull it out. Check the orings in this and make sure they're good. Also check to see if its a ULT or a standard on/off, standard will have a pin thats the same width for the whole pin, ULT will have a smaller tip on the pin. If its the ULT and the orings are fine you might just need to remove a shim to stop the leak.

For the rapid fire it might be because of bolt stick or possibly on/off is sticking. Double check that you installed the right carrier and its not too tight a fit. After those are checked make sure you make sure all those are oiled. For springs you should be able to test and get it all working with the gold spring.

Its late and my parents went to bed so I'm not going to test anything out now but the on off looks fine I oiled the oring in it. I don't have the ult. I'll try it all out tommarow morning. Thanks for the help.

YAY i got it to work. I'm not sure what I did but its going good now except I'm out of air. Changing springs was the only thing significant I changed. I was getting some awsome bounce out of my maxflow with less than 1000psi left. I can't wait to get my air filled again. thanks a lot for the help
