    The cold and x-mags

I have a x-mag and I find that my x-mag doesn't get along well with how cold it get's here in Canada. My battery just get's to cold and none of my electronics work. I was wondering if it's ok if I pack insultation around the battery (inside the battery pack) Or If you guys can think of anything better?

Try keeping the battery warm by putting it in a shirt or jacket pocket whenever you're not playing, then put it on just before you go on the field. Also keep the battery warm while travelling to the field.

I know a lot of batteries don't perform well when they get too cold. I know the battery on my RC airplane has a short life when it get fairly cold, but I didn't think the Emag platform did (but I just never thought about it).

You might just have to switch to manual or hybrid mode when it gets colder out. I wouldn't see how insulation would hurt it though I just wouldn't know how effective it would be.

Make sure all your connections are good and tight and that electrical contacts are good. The cold can cause things to shink. If the contacts were questionable due to dirt or weak pressure, then the cold could cause separation and bad electrical contacts.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

pull out your battery and wrap it a few times in a cloth then pop it back in

Yea she usually works fine when it's ok weather or warm out. I had a problem before where the electronics would just cut out. Never figured it out but the problem seemed to fix itself. I'm pretty sure all the connections are ok. Don't know about the electrical contacts though.

Thanks for the advice kevdupuis but I tried it. There wasn't enough time to keep it warm between games. It was to cold out by the time I got to the start gate the electronics would already be cutting in and out

get those hand warmers that hunters use. They have the little metal disk in them you crack. They sell them at Walmart. I dont know if Canada has walmarts. You can reuse them a few times by placing them in boiling water. Wrap your battery housing in a sock then cover the housing again with the hand warmer and another sock. Be careful though cause to much heat can harm you battery. The inner sock should help insulate it from to much heat and the outside weather conditiond should take care of the rest. Use your head though and check it. If the pack feels to warm let it cool down and add another inner sock. Have fun playing. Same Idea works for winter CO2 users that dont run liquid.
