    Foregrip

ive asked this question before but i didnt really get a good answer so here it goes again, on my RT ule i wanted to remove the foregrip extender (the punched metal thing). When i take the rail off i see the little white hole like half way drilled through. How do i drill that exactly. I havee access to a drill press but how do i drill it? what size bit should i use? should i even drill it or just sent it to somone who knows what they are doing?

it's noobish but I'll answer it.
You just punch it through with whatever you want. I actually used a nail and hammer then i filed it until it was smooth and round. Do it any way you feel comfortable.
I knew not what I did but am now edumacated

If you think you have asked a noobish question... you are certainly not the only one. every1 (except tunaman probs) has been a noob at some pont when it comes to mags... so dont worry.

Punch it out, not drill needed.

i used a drill bit on mine... i forget the size.. just get teh bit that fits just smaller than the hole... i didnt find myself getting all ready for a tough drilling procedure, i started to drill and pow... i was done and thru the material like that... so, what the other guys are saying really has credence.. you can drill, but the metal is soo thin that its overkill... just get a nail or nail driver to punch the metal out, then you a small rasp or bastard file to knock off the burs... enjoy..

Don't you need 2 holes tomount hte grip straight to the rail though? isn't there only one of those pre-cut ones in the rail?

i dont quite understand it though, the foregrip that comes with the rt ule custom cant mount with one hole, it has those 2 holes that go on the silver thing. how to bring the foregrip in nice and close?

i used just one of the holes with no ill effects... and since you'd have to drill another hole in the raill to use 2, its kinda a pain to rig up... if you do want to make a setup that you know will not have a tendancy to swivel (as the grip mounted directly on the rail sometimes does) you can do the following:

-find the distance sepparating the 2 screw holes the top of the foregrip.. i'm not sure what it is, but for a number's sake, lets say its 1cm..

-mark a dot 1cm "aft" of the hole that you have recently punched in the rail.

-what you are about to make is something reminiscent of the vertical regs on teh old angel lcds... their regs would have swiveled if not for a small post that protruded into the "rail/body" of the angel just enough to give a second "dorsal" hole onto the body.

                - you'll basically want to drill a small hole, not very deep, maybe 4mm into the body... this hole should be the diameter of the machine screw that will go into one of the holes of the top of the grip.... see where i'm going with this?

-once you have the second hole drilled (the shallow one that is "aft" of the actual hole that you punched in the frame) you'll need to fasten a screw into the grip... get a screw that fits the hole at the top of the fore grip.... thread the screw in until it can no longer be screwed in.....

-now cut that screw off with 3.5 to 4mm of the screw sticking out the top of the foregrip... you've kinda made yourself a little mortis and tennan setup here....

-now you can mock up the foregrip and see if the second hole in the top of the foregrip alligns with teh larger hole that you punched earlier in the rail...

-it should and all you really have to do is tighten down the forgrip to the rail like you would have done with the classic rail or any other rail for that matter...

-keep in mind that small screw that you chooped off is not to be threaded into the rail... it should slide in there pretty freely, there is only minimal shearing force exerted on it as it just keeps the grip from twisting as there would be only 1 screw holding it in normally....

hope this little run down helps you all out... its not incredibly hard.. i'm writing this late, so hit me up if you need clarification on anything in the text...

                peace-
