    Tank Testing

ok, if you take a tank for testing, and the TANK is fine...but the regulator is messed up or leaking or something, do they retire it? can you get replacement regulators, like teh Bulldog 2 or something?

oh and how do they retire it? Toss it in a fire, garbage can? give it back to you to send back to manufacturer? oh and can you get a replacement regulator for a tank from the manufacture (for $ of course)

They don't test the reg, only the tank. If the tank fails they will usually drill a hole in it.

I'm gunna take a tank in to get tested tommorow actually.

I take it to our local DIve shop and he tests them, i'm not sure if he sends them off or tests them himself. Here is what i think happens

they pull the reg off the tank, put the tank into a tub of water inject some type of dye into the tank and pressurize it to test for leakage. That may be WAY WAY off but thats kinda what i heard.

I'll ask him when i take my tank in.

What they do is they pull the reg off, and put it in a tub of H2o, and they measure the amount of h20 it displaces at the begining, and at the end of prussureizing the tank to 2 times it's regular load ( i.e. 3000=6000 and 4500=9000) and it it grows more than like 5% they drill a hole in it and retire it.
