    crown point or regular barrel

Is the crown point barrel better? Has anyone used both and prefer one over the other? I'm going to get a minimag but i'll also get a 11" barrel any input will be appreciated.

Not sure what regular barrel your talking about but the crown points are pieces of crap. They make a loud ping noise when used and the inside of the one that came with my classic had pits all down the barrel. So just about anything is better than a crown point in my opinion.

for the $$ you can't beat a crown point. Ive used one for many years, works great. My opinion of barrels is that they are a waste of money. Ive only played with stock barrels for both my mag (crown point) and RT Pro, so I have a different take I guess.

If you're looking for a cheap barrel to replace the crown point, with the twist lock, see if you can find an all american barrel. My level 7 had one, compared to the crown barrel it blew it away. If you have the chance to play with a barrel system and different size paints you'll notice that it's not neccisarily the barrel but the paint to bore match...

The deal is i'm getting a minimag that has a 8" barrel and i'm thinking of getting a 13" crown point because they are $30.00. I own a pro/carbine now with a 7 1/2" and a 12" bigshot barrels and the 12" is more accurate (not by a whole lot). I also found that certain balls fly better that's why i don't want to spend $50 or $60 on a barrel when for $30 i can put a stock barrel on it and be happy. On that same note i don't want to spend $30 and have to turn around and spend $50 or $60 on something else.

I hated my crown point. It had that ring when you shoot and the inside was not bored very well. I also had nicks and dimples even after a couple of uses
Here is a link to some basic pricing on automag barells

            12" barrel

            14"

I like my J&J edge kit that I bought for my classic twist lock. So for the price You could get a single J&J ceramic barrel for under $30 and be happy.

What ever you get good luck and if you have the money try to serach for a inexpensive barrel kit.

              Barrels

Ok seriously, i really dislike stock barrels mainly because MOST of them are not accurate and they are litterally "boomsticks." I mean, if you are in to loud inaccurate barrels, then go with a crown point or any stock barrel. Personally, i like a relatively light, quiet and accurate barrel. 12" is good. What best fits this description other than the Dye Ultralight. Usually you can get one of those for like 50-60 or so. But, if you are on a budget, but want the quality that is DYE, go with a Dye Xcel. Its really light, fairly quiet, and pretty damn accurate. One complaint i might have for the Xcel is that it has a large bore, but thats whatever. But here's the kicker: I got mine off ebay for $9 plus shipping. How can you go wrong with that??!!

I did to agree with everyone else about the crown point barrel: (1) It is nosier, (2) It was not very accurate and (3) It was very difficult to change barrels. I had to take the gun apart to take the barrel out of the mainbody. I have an old smart parts barrel 14" that works very well and is very accurate. The problem is that I don't get enough distance like an autococker does.

I never had any issues at all with my crown point. Loved the "ting" sound it made when firing. That can be muffled by putting an oring around the tip.
