    Mag problems

I bought a gun off ebay. My Mag As it states, gun is in good working order. I get it, looks good. I dropped a few drops of oil through the asa and dry fired a few with hpa. I put some balls in and shot a few, very impressed. I begun shooting again today to get a feel for it and adjust the velocity. About 10 times the trigger pin wouldnt push the trigger out again. I had to take the air off and back on and it came back out. Fired a few more and then it would do it again. Not too familar with these guns yet. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Check which on/off top you have. Most likely problem is that you have a ULT on/off and it still is breaking in and needs more lube. If you have a light trigger pull when it is working you most likely have the ULE trigger kit(ULT), if its pretty stiff its prolly a RT style on/off valve.

From the ebay description it looks like a classic valve which would mean no ULT or Retro on/off problems. I was going to suggest bolt stick and switching to a larger spacer as it probably still has a level 7 bolt. When you mentioned the trigger pin not pushing the trigger back out did you mean the pin stays back or is just limp and doesn't let it fire? Did you get a chance to chrono it? Oh yeah, welcome to AO and congrads on the great deal!!!!

Thanks for the welcome. The trigger pin doesnt do anything. It does go limp. It doesnt look like anything has been upgraded....

You might be short stroking the trigger. When I first got my classic mag way back when, that happened to me alot. I was used to the tippmann trigger pull. I'm not sure if that's it or not, but its a possibility..
If it's short stroking you just need to work on your trigger pull, try to pull it back all the way and release all the way every shot.

sorry, I didn't even check the link for the ebay listing. Still think its an on/off problem, remove the valve and oil the on/off valve. It came with a CO2 tank and if you freeze the on/off it sticks, its not a problem just needs to be re-oiled. Before it was sent to you it could have happened.

Awesome. Thanks everyone. I'm going to take it to the local shop in a bit and just let them play with it. 15 bucks an hour...can't go wrong. I am taking the expansion chamber off soon, once I figure out what set-up I want to do, right now won't hurt. I have a co2 back up tank, so I might just leave it. ITs getting cold here so I could use that gas expansion. Again, thanks a lot for the help and I will keep you posted on my progress. Take it easy, later!

After the gun locks up, try pushing a squeegee down the barrel and up against the bolt. See if you can push the bolt back. If, so, you have bolt-stick. On a Level 7 mag, that would be caused by an incorrect size powertube spacer. If you need spares, check out the AGD store or ask around here if you can wait a bit.

                        Hope I could help.

Cool, I will try pushing it back. I have an o-ring kit coming for it. I talked to my local pball store today and they said it probably just needs an overhaul on the valve. The guy I bought it from said it works fine, thats what pisses me off. I still got a great deal so I can't complain I guess. I may just send it to AGD and use up that last star.

                            bolt bumper

I was looking at the exploded view of the valve to familiarize myself with it. I then noticed the bolt bumper. I had my valve out a couple days ago and I don't have the bumper and my spring is a about 3/16 below the end of the bolt. I have a good feeling that this is the cause of my problems....
