    My gun fires xx bps?

I've noticed a lot of people saying "My gun shoots XX bps". Won't most guns shoot as fast as you can pull the trigger? Is it the person or the gun? I'd be inclined to believe it's the person and not the gun. If a person can only move his or her fingers so many times a second isn't that the limiting factor?

    Curious,

    Eric

some guns mechanically stop cycling after a certian speed. some electronic guns have an electronic cap.

so the limiting factor depends on what kind of gun.
Yummy yummy yummy, I've got fun in my tummy.

For example a sear tripper will cycle faster than a pneumatic. So when someone says, "my spyder can shoot faster than your angel", theoretically they are right. Practically speaking they're full of crap. You also get people saying, "the x-valve can shoot 26bps!". Not gonna happen unless you use an adjustable tank and bounce the trigger or if you have an electronic frame with a board that will handle that. For example the Devilmag with a predator II board. However it all comes down to one thing:

In a real game (not fanning it in your backyard) practically, you really aren't going to find yourself shooting 30bps no matter what your gun can handle. 20bps is pretty average for shooting lanes and when snapshooting you don't even need that. Which comforts me since one I get my 4500psi Flatline, I'll be able to bounce just as fast as the other guys at my local field fire. They usually use ramp and the refs don't care so I'm not going to worry about getting repremanded. If they can cheat so can I. Muwahahahaha!

Of course your fingers are the limiting factor, but when your trigger pull is 2 pounds and you have to move the trigger 1/4 of an inch you are not going to be able to shoot as fast when your angel trigger has to move 2 millimeters and the force required is 5 oz.
