Went to play yesterday, few problems

First off, the gun leaked. I had the lvl ten bolt in so I imagined that would be the problem. It leaked when there was no pressure on the trigger and it leaked when I held down the trigger. That means there are two problems. When I pull the trigger and hold it and it continues to leak, the on/off is the problem. I replaced the teflon oring in there. The other leak was when the on/off was open. That means it's a pt problem. I went down a carrier size and I replaced the oring for that.

How do I do know if it's a pt oring problem or a carrier size?

Second question, my velocity was wild at the chrono. It jumped around about +- 10 fps. I was using nitrogen. Is this a reg seat problem or a reg piston problem? Could the reg piston oring have to do with this? Please list all the suspects for this velocity problem. Or maybe this is just normal for a Classic valve???

    Thanks.

Ok, if the gun, just sitting there, leaks down the barrel, you have bolt leak. With the lvl10, the biggest thing that causes this problem is the carrier being too big. Change to the next smaller carrier and use the same oring. Do this until it stops leaking and before you get bolt stick. Unless the oring is very old or damaged, the oring is probably not the problem.

If you hold down the trigger, and it still leaks out the barrel, this is an on/off problem. Usually just replacing the orings in the On/Off fixes this.

The erratic velocity is more than likely the reg seat (maybe bent reg pin). Replace the seat (make sure it's in the right direction) and inspect the pin to make sure it's still in good shape.

The one thing that can cause all these is a dry gun. Make sure it is oiled. Place 3-5 drops in the ASA and dry firew with the barrel off for about 100 shots or so.

I'll try replacing the reg seat. The gun was oiled so that's not the problem.

Last time I had the valve halves unscrewed, the pin looked fine. I'm remembering now that the spring wouldn't come out. I tried grabbing it with a pick but it still would not come out. I stopped doing that because it would of stretched the spring and caused a problem. What do I do about the spring being stuck?

I also remember at the Charon that the correct velocity was at the very verge of the gun venting. What do I do? Thanks.

Everytime you split the valve halves you should replace the reg seat. If the marker is on the verge of venting out the back, you probably have an older reg piston in there. You will need a newer style. I have all this stuff if you need it. Let me know how it goes.

I don't know about replacing it every time. Maybe every 2 or three. I can't afford that. I'll just try to never open it unless I have to. I read the thread that says why to do that but I don't see what problem that double dome reg seat problem does. Low recharge time? Erratic velocity that gets worse every time it's split? Just so you know, I have had the halves split about six times on the same reg seat. And I don't know how many times the previous owner has had it opened either. Guess it's about time to replace it, heh?

Tunaman, I'll go ahead and pm you about this and that order I placed.

          Thanks guys.
