    using hardware store fittings?

    I need an 1/8npt close nipple. I can either mail order one, and spend 10-15 dollars, and wait a week, or go 50 yards down the street to the hardware store and get a brass or steel one for 50 cents. I know those ones are probably not designed for high pressures but then I've never seen pressure ratings on paintball fittings either.

    Please stop me before I do it.

    I wouldnt trust a hardware store with my life

    Just get one from tuna or a dealer , it should be a little bit quicker , Unless the packaging on the thing says is rating pressure

        Use the hardware store nipple. A brass nipple is a brass nipple.

          Hi Guys,
          just mine 2cent. I think the regular max pressure on fittings in this size is around 400psi max.
          So even if you use Paintball specific Fittings. So i would say you could use them. But be aware.
          Nothing even PB Fittings are rated this high. If you wanna make sure thats safe you have to go Steelbraind.

            That pretty much sums it up!!! If you go to a boat supply place (or a really good hardware store) You can get stainless ones, too!!! And NO, there is no diferrence between the hardware store plug and the paintball place plug!!! Only the number of middlemen involved!!!!

              this doesn't even make sense.

              I don't need a nipple anymore because I found an odd elbow on my fill station that will work for me.

                Go for the hardware store fittings they will work OK, about 10 months ago I bought an used Minimag with leaking braided steel hoses, I live in Argentina and it becomes a little difficult to get a couple of steel braided hoses as quick as I need, so I went t o the harware store and get some fittings an a piece of gas copper pipes (2mm thick walls) with them I could fix the problem:

                now I get a hose wich I use between the asa and the X-Chamber, but I keep the copper pipe that goes to the valve:

                They work perfect and they cost nothing.

                  What works really well, is brake line. Go to autozone and get some of the green brake line and brass compression fittings to fit it. Get lots of the little collets. This stuff can be formed by hand to pretty tight radii and is hella strong. I used to use it a lot, for short notice tinkering, when macroline doesn't work well with CO2.

                    actually, the fittings are welded to the copper pipe (in the second picture the pipe is cover with black electrical tape)
