    Questions about how to use my Maxflow on new emag

    Ok,

    I just got a sweet used emag today. It came with a Maxflow. Now, I'm embarrassed, but all I've ever used is a Spyder with a Crossfire screw in. Simple as pie, right? Well, the Maxflow has knobs and screws and gauges and all kinds of crap. I thought it would have an on/off lever, but it only has a big knob that you can turn. When I turn that, air vents thru the gun. Also, can I just unscrew the thing, or will it blow up on me when I do it? It's a 3000, and its about a year and a half old. Can someone give me a remedial lesson on how this all works, and maybe a link to a "for dummies" on this tank?

    I'll tell ya, this is a painful message to write and admit I know nothing, but I figure its better than hosing the tank, the gun, or myself. Much love to whoever can help me.

    First off, you really need to read the manual from the manufacturer. Check out the manufacturer's website www.smartparts.com. They have a manual you can download and print.

    Do not mess with it until you read the instructions!

      Lest anyone think that I am not RTFM'ing, I could not find the manual on www.smartparts.com, but I did find one on the Smartparts Europe website. It does not really provide the info that I need. Again, I'm really not this dumb, I just don't want to try to reverse-engineer what is essentially a bomb. Still looking for help. (I bet Woody 2 would've helped! )

      On a happier note, this is post number 10! I'm no longer a "junior member", so I demand some respect around this place!!

        OK... the tank is removable when the tank is on(knob is open) because there is also a pin valve type system on the tank. However you are better off turning the tank off and purging the air from the system if you want to remove it.

        The rest is pretty straight forward... I couldnt find a manual on the SP.com site either

          The outer shell of the reg is the adjuster, twist it to adjust the pressure, it should have two guages, one for tank pressure, one for output pressure. Call Smartparts and get the manual, they are usually pretty good about that sort of thing.

            Ok, so the knob on the tank adjusts the input pressure, and the long round thing that point out in front adjusts the pressure to the gun? Sounds simple enough. Why when I turn the knob that is on the tank does it blow air thru the gun? Shouldn't it just go into the reg?

                Nope... the reg has no on/off, only the tank. SO if you turn that knob air will blow through the reg and into the gun.

                And the knob does not adjust input pressure, it's only an On/off.

                  But, to belabor the point, the air blows thru the gun and out as soon as I turn the knob. Goes right thru the microline and out the top. Does not wait for paint, cannot pull the trigger, just blasts out the top. Obivously, this is not how is should work, unless I accidently purchased a hair dryer instead of a e-mag.

                      Try this:
                      1. set your Emag to manual mode
                      2. pull and hold down the trigger
                      3. open the on/off valve in the Max Flow tank
                      4. release the trigger

                      If you get a leak through the barrel now, there's something wrong with the bolt/powertube area. Try shooting now a couple of times and see if that does anything.

                        The problem is that the RT valve ( thats whats in the Emag ) isnt getting hit with enough air pressure to make teh oring seal.

                        Run a bit of oil through your gun then try using a ProConnect fitting. That will alow you to open the N2 tanka nd get pressure behind the ProConnect than slap the valve with the gun pressure in the line.

                        also make sure you have the HP kit for your max flow.

                          Hey Rob,

                          Thanks for the help! I put some oil in the bottle adapter, and then ran more air in. It continued to shoot out for a minute, but once all the oil got in it sealed up real nice. Man, it was a roller coaster ride for a while though. Thanks again for your help.
