    Level 7 automag upgrades

I'm new to this forum and I have a old automag that I bought about 10 years ago and I haven't used it for about 8 years until recently. What upgrades can I get from airgun designs to get this thing updated? What new valve can I get? Would the X-valve work for my gun to give me a faster recharge rate? What about the level 10 bolt? What HPA system would be best for my gun? I am still using C02 and I am having some problems of the gun freezing up during firefights.

    Thanks so much!

If you don't want to go HPA you can just get a Palmers Stabilizer to keep liquid out of the gun. If you do want to go HPA any high pressure adjustable or preset system will work fine. Level 10 should work unless you have a rental valve and ULE trigger kit could possibly work but it is a pain and needs a lot more shims in the classic valves.

The classic valve will recharge fine up to around 15-18 BPS. If you do just want to upgrade your valve wo something that will cycle over 20+ BPS you can look for an X valve, its all aluminum and requires you to use HPA with it.

You should get the Xvalve and ULE Trigger Pull kit. The xvalve comes with level 10.

I looked up the price of a Palmers Stabilzer and it is around $100 with shipping. Would I be better off getting a decent HPA setup instead? Or would be it just be more of a hassle and would staying with CO2 just save me some headaches? Also would an intelliframe be a big hassle to setup on my classic? I wouldnt mind having a double trigger. TIA!

Save yourself the hassle and go HPA. 3K psi tanks run in the $125 range, but I would recommend getting a 4,500 psi tank which runs about $200. The intelliframe is the best gripframe for a Mag (IMO) and all you need to do is take your old gripframe off and bolt this one on.

For HPA it depends on your area and cash you want to spend. Some areas its hard to get fills or you might not play at a field with HPA fills so its cheaper to use CO2. HPA is easier to deal with since you don't have to worry about liquid but its more expensive in up front costs. Tanks are more expensive, if you want to refill yourself the scuba tank is expensive. So it really boils down to where you play(can you get HPA fills) and how much you really want to spend.

Can anybody recommend a reasonably priced HPA system that works well with mags? There are so many out there to choose from. If the intelliframe bolts right up I am going to go with one of those also.

Is 850 the minimum you want to go with? I see some of the crossfires are preset to 800psi, is that too little? What is the ideal pressure you want for a mag to work correctly? TIA!

An 800 psi tank will do just fine. I have rarely seen an "800psi" preset actually deliver right at 800, it is usually in the range of 850 (which is fine), just make sure you dont get a low pressure preset. Also, if you consider getting a 4500 psi tank, make sure you can get a 4500 fill. It wont hurt to underfill the tank, but you will not be getting a full fill on a 4500 tank when your field can only go to 3000. I shot CO2 in my mag for years, but HPA is so much more convenient, you dont have to worry about freeze-ups, cold weather (CO2 pressure drops when it gets cold), or fluctuating velocity. Save your pennies and get a HPA system, it's worth it in the long run.

By the way, welcome to AO!!

I bought my compressed 3k/45 on ebay for about $55 shipped. As it has been mentioned the classic valve will work great under about 18-19 bps. I personally never need to shoot this fast as I play 90% woodsball. Go with the HPA and buy yourself an Intelliframe and your mag will work great. My next mod is going to be a level 10. If you have not seen the video of it, you can find it on this board. It is simply amazing.

                          Hey Rommel,

                          If you play wood ball:
                          -Get the Intelliframe/HPA tank
-A good HPA tank for wood ball is the 68/4500 Kingman Java
-Its moderately cheap, and delivers a good clean shot
-If you get into close up fire fights, the level 10 bolt will prevent balls from ever being chopped.

                          If you play speedball:
                          -Get the Intelliframe/HPA tank
-Crossfire and NitroDuck make decent tanks that can be adjusted
-Get the level 10 bolt, because your gonna chop every 10 balls at high speeds if you dont
-Get the ULE trigger and Mainframe pieces to decrease weight by a ton and lighten trigger pull
-Get the X-Valve! It will pretty much push your finger back out and allow you to rapid fire easily. They have the go X-Valve program where you send them your old valve and you get an x-valve discounted 100$. If you do get the X-Valve, it comes standard with a level 10 Bolt so you dont need a seperate one.
-If you really wanna push it, get a warp feed system and mount your hopper on the side of your gun. 12v Revys are the best hopper for this, but my eVolution works fine.

                          Hope This Helped
IM SORRY AO FOR DISOBEYING YOUR SIG RULES!!!! FORGIVE ME!!!
