    Mag questions

I just got my first Mag and am in the process of fixing it up. I have a few basic air setup questions as they pertain to my Mag.

    1. I plan to use N2 with my Mag, can I use the steel braided hose that came with the marker?

    2. What is the differences \ advantages \disadvantages of microline and steel braided?

    3. What is the difference between macroline and microline?

    4. Can microline be setup with a quick disconnect at the valve?

I may have others but this will work for now.

First welcome to the brotherhood of Mags. It's a tight club.

    1. I plan to use N2 with my Mag, can I use the steel braided hose that came with the marker?

Yes you can use your steel braided, in fact it is your most durable of all options. Not my first choice, but damn durable.

    2. What is the differences \ advantages \disadvantages of microline and steel braided?

Difference between Micro/Macro and steel is simply the material, durabilty and ease of use. I would recommend the use of Macro. In my opinion it's easier to work with, long lasting and it looks better.

    3. What is the difference between macroline and microline?

If you have the choice, stay away from microline. Microlins is much skinnier than macro, as a result you will get less flow to the marker than you would with much bigger macroline.

    4. Can microline be setup with a quick disconnect at the valve?

Steel braided has a big ugly disconnect on the fitting at the valve so you can take the gun apart without unscrewing the fitting. Macroline is essentially quick disconnecting at each fitting. With macro you simply puch the tubing into the fitting and you done. It comes out just as easy. So in a round about way, yes you can at the valve.

    Hope that helps!

For me I liked the durability of SS lines. I tried several different lengths and found a couple that I liked with my gun. Since I'm left handed, I did not like the SS line going straight from the valve to the tank. So I re-routed it thru the foregrip.... I was only going to use 1 QD on the line from the valve to the ASA but decided to use 2 so I can remove the entire line. The line from the bottom of the grip, I use a Staubli QD and it works fine for me... One thing to remember is that SS lines are heavier...

dahvaio planing on shortning that hose on the bottom all hoses should have a smoth curve no lupes or sudden curves.

        ok so
        1:yes

2: Stainless hose offers more reliablility but sometimes looks fugly. Macro is cleaner but at points can explode in your face if your not careful.

3:Macro is a larger hose diamiter and is often recomended over micro because micro restricts airflo because of its size in other words less air flow for a mag=bad thing

4:If you want to run a SS style QD there are several parts you would have to get I'll give you the list tomarrow i'm too tired to think at the moment.

        hope that helps a little

I have been told that Mags do not need a regulator, but would anyone recommend one anyway or are they just pointless?

Would it be better to run lines through a gas through or directly from asa to valve? Is this just a preference thing or are there advantages?

if you have an x-valve its a waste of your money cause it wont work but if you have a classic valve it might be worth it

A regulator will just starve the valve.
A gas through works fine, gives a small quantity of air ready.

Are there any functional advantages/disadvantages to using 90* fixed vs. 90* swivel macroline fittings?

get teh swivel ones definatly, they are not really any more expensive and you might not think it makes a difference now but trust me it's a lot nicer.

and no you don't need a regulater, in reality if you run compressed air theres already a minimum of 2 the reg on the tank, most people forget about, and the back half of your valve assemble is in itself a reg, also mags Operate at a very high preassure compared to other guns so any more regs hinder more than help
