Do I need a stabilizer when using CO2 with a vertical ASA?

I'm setting up a micromag using the vertical ASA in the front, and Palmer makes a Sideline Stabilizer which mounts directly to the input on the micromag valve. Do I need a stabilizer when using a 4 oz. CO2 with the vertical ASA? I'd rather not add the weight if there won't be a performance upgrade, but I suspect that the overall performance will increase and the tank will last longer if it is "regulated" by the stabilizer. Or does the 68 micromag valve do a good enough job without it? Since I'm using the vertical ASA, very little CO2 should get to the valve anyway, right?

Ok, setup number two (I want to do them both): I have a Palmer Female Stabilizer to mount to the bottom of the grip so I can bypass/remove the front ASA; the 4 oz. tank screws into the back of the stabilizer. Should I convert a 4 oz. tank to anti-siphon since it will be horizontal most of the time, or does the stabilizer do a good enough job?

    Thanks for your help.

well sometimes there is an issue with having a reg on a mag. The back of the valve is a reg so if you have another reg on it then you might starve the mag for pressure. I've seen a lot of people put a stab on the side of the valve or on the mag valve and they have said it helps. I've tried an inline reg and it really wasn't that better. I had shootdown a lot and I went through more co2 because the reg sucked it up. I'd say just run your 4oz tank straight in the valve from either the vert ASA or the bottom line. Classic valves where invented when CO2 was the only thing to run on so they can take it. I'm assuming you are trying to make a mag pistol? If so then if you are only going to be shooting like 10 balls at a time or a small hopper full then you don't have to really worry about CO2 really messing up your valve. It's just when you start shooting a lot really fast with a mag on CO2 then you get the liquid in the valve and it starts drownding. Thats my thoughts.

Thanks, I was hoping that was the case. You are right, I'm making a pistol with 30-40 round hopper. I hoped that by keeping the tank on the front/vertical mount and firing short bursts I wouldn't have a problem. I'll try it for awhile before getting another stab.

yeah don't really need the stabilizer as the back half of the mag valve is in it self a reg and the vert tank won't syphon any liquid, with the horizontal set up Anti syohon is always a plus but again not exactly nessesary
