    Valve leak through crack

Hello. I recently purchased a used 68 Classic. When I first screwed in my tank (68/3000), theres a slow leak through crack where the regulator and the valve halves screw together. So I separted the halves, and the Regulator body o-ring looked fine. Then I put a little oil on it, and screwed it back together tightly and a tiny bit over the line-up mark. But it still leaks and now its a "wet" sound leak from the oil.
So what i want to do is seal up the threads better with some Teflon Tape. Is it safe to do that? And also, what does the star on my valve mean?

Thanks in advance for any help.

no you need to replace the big o-ring in there, do it right or dont do it at all, it may look ok but thats not to say it is not damaged.

the star was/is a free valve rebuild from the factory + shipping charges. read the warrenty info on AGD http://www.airgun.com/WarrantyPolicy.shtml <--- there

Thanks for your help. Earlier, I put some White Lithium Grease on the o-ring.. It stopped the leak, and now I consider it a temorary fix untill I have the change to replace it.

And thanks for the link, helped me a lot.
