Hi. I'm researching getting a Automag RT. Do I need to upgrade the barrel? If so, do I need a specific thread style?

Depends on the body style...
the older bodys have what is know as a twist lock barrel...
the newer bodies (like the tac-one and the ULEs) are cocker threaded.
I personally prefer the cocker threads over the twist locks as I feel the barrel is more secure.

I have both a twist lock on one and cocker threads on the other. I like the cocker threads because you have a better selection on barrels.
On the other hand, the twist locks are getting cheaper cause everybody likes the ule body with the cocker threads. I have a Dye twist lock on my mag and I don't think twist locks have any problems of becoming loose or anything. At least I never had any problems.
