why does a mag need high pressure?

I was just wondering, what part in the mag valve (x-valve, classic valve, whatever valve) is it that causes the valve to need high pressure to run?

from what i understand, pressure builds up inside the valve, then when the trigger is pulled, the on/off cuts off the air from the tank and bolt sear is released allowing the built up air to vent thru the front. correct?

so i was wondering, would it be possible to run the mag at a lower pressure by using a weaker bolt spring? and i suppose you'll probably have to plug in an expansion chamber somewhere between the on/off and the powertube to compensate for the lower pressure.

roughly, you are correct, a weaker spring and larger air chamber would allow lower operating pressures, that is true

from what I understand, though, it wouldn't be better.

forgive me here im no expert, but i thought the mag valve only uses 400psi to work and the high input pressure was needed beacuse the mag valve has its own regulator. and thats why you dont need a reg on a mag.

Research "pressure drop across the line."

And the previous statement is correct. Another reason the mag is considered high pressure is because of the built in regulator. And you need a 200psi pressure difference (recommended) between reg and working pressure.

We sacrifice high pressure for simplistic design.

            why not?
