Can the soleniod limit your ROF? or can most noids keep up with pretty much all boards?im guessing it varies.Any suggestions on good noids?

I was worried about the stock noid working when my brother had his emag set up with the predator board. The board is claimed to be fast and I read a statement here the noid with agd software would flutter at 21-23bps. After the emag came back it rocks without problems. The victory halo is spinning as fast as it can to keep up. The noid I feel is up to the task, but 3.2 was not. Just to choppy. Predator makes it easy.Originally posted by CKY_AllianceCan the soleniod limit your ROF? or can most noids keep up with pretty much all boards?im guessing it varies.Any suggestions on good noids?

Got a soundclip or video of it? I'm very interested.

Depending on the marker, the solenoid is usually part of the limiting factor. The limit may be switching time, where the solenoid isn't capable of changing state more than X times per second, or it may be drive force, where the solenoid isn't capable of producing the required force in the amount of time necessary to do it's job.Originally posted by CKY_AllianceCan the soleniod limit your ROF? or can most noids keep up with pretty much all boards?im guessing it varies.Any suggestions on good noids?
Solenoid is a term given to two types of devices - electropneumatic valves which use a solenoid coil to drive a (air piloted) five way, and mechanical solenoids that use a solenoid coil to drive a plunger to act upon a sear, lever, etc.
The solenoid you should use should be selected first on what job it needs to do: Valve air at X psi, push X oz of force, pull a sear x mm, etc. Then the proper voltage and size should be selected.
If you can tell me what sort of marker or design it's for, I can give you suggestions to suit.

i was looking at the e-mag noids since they are for mags, but isnt the noid in mags the reason for the battery pack (since it needs like a minimum of 14volts to work or somehere in that range)?i want to run it off a 9-volt not a battery pack.

I'm not too computer savy. If I new how I'd be happy to do something. The best way I can describe it is to watch Zak Vetters Rts on a scuba tank railing at 30+ . Predator has got to be most awsome mod since the lvl10.Originally posted by shatter_stormGot a soundclip or video of it? I'm very interested.

i have already, joni used a hyperframe noid i do believe.im just a little mixed up with what im gona use (for lack of better words) i would like to use the e-mag noid but i if i do i think i wil have to use a battery pack and i dont want to..ill wait and see if shatter suggest a noid.Originally posted by sabrefanpchttp://www.automags.org/forums/showthread.php?t=162622
and
may be what you are looking for. ask them any questions you have, they are nice guys and helpfull.
good luck

There's three ways to approach the problem.
You can use a mechanical solenoid to push or pull the sear, like in the hyperframe and the devilmag. You'd most likely want to use a ULT to make the solenoid have to do less work. You would have to machine out a gripframe (the emag frame won't cut it) so that a solenoid, battery, capacitor, and board would fit. In theory this solenoid, should work: http://www.solenoidcity.com/solenoid...s-66-100p1.htm
You can use the emag solenoid and a different board to pull the sear. The emag solenoid is designed for the application and has the benefit of fitting in the emag gripframe with no extra work. However, to get the force necessary it requires the 18v battery pack. Available in an emag gripframe.
You can use a electropneumatic valve to switch air to a pneumatic ram that trips the sear. This is how some/most homebrew electro 'mag conversions do it, because you can get the forces required pretty easily from a pneumatic ram. Downside is it requires a regulator and ram in addition to the solenoid valve. The skinner, humphrey, or SMC solenoids used in the intimidator, B2K, matrix, shocker, and EM-1 markers are suited for this task, in either single-acting or double-acting ram configurations. I'm just skeptical that the emag solenoid can physically cycle that fast, regardless of the board driving it. If I had a set of lowers, I'd test it myself.Originally posted by REDRTI'm not too computer savy. If I new how I'd be happy to do something. The way to prove it is to get a microphone, a laptop with a microphone built in works well, and record the sound of the marker firing. Then count the peaks of the sound file over a period of time, usually 1 second. I personally use a tiny mp3 player (MPIO FL100) with a built in mic to record the sound, then dump it to my computer and analyse it from there.

1 sec is what most ppl on forums seem to use, but ive been told manufacturers often use gap between just 2 shots is this true?

If you want to use an eMag grip frame, replacing the eMag solenoid with this solenoid and installing a ULT should work. However, i haven't tried it, so I can't say for sure.

im going to use one of the 90* frames..not sure which yet..they seem to have plenty of room in them.Im going to stay away form the phuematics..seems to complex im already over my head with the electric stuff much less throw in some pheumatics.
Also shatter, which would you recomend more the noid you listed or a hyperframe noid?
how fast does the noid you listed cycle?
any recomindations on a capacitor.Last edited by CKY_Alliance; 02-25-2005, 07:39 PM.
