Old Cocker question

My buddy broke out his old Autococker.It seems all balls roll out of his barrel.Is a new sized barrel the fix or is it in the detent?I have no clue on cockers.

Since cockers are closed-bolt, the ball is pushed past the detent when the gun is at rest (trigger forward)... The only ways to prevent this are to get a smaller bore barrel, use larger bore paint, or tilt the gun back when you're not shooting to keep the ball back against the bolt...
