Minimag leaking through barrel i think?

I am just geting back into paintball after 2 years and, i actually traded my cousin my tippy 98 for his minimag, because it has a leak through the barrel (i think). I was wondering if anyone knew what i could do, i did do a little research about it, and i bought some PT spacers, (hopefully that will help) and i do not have a manual to it so if u could tell me what i need to do to keep the gun running properly. and please explain where and what i have to do to get to it, cause i do not have a manual. .... thanks.....

I can help. I had a stock Minimag for 3 years. I still have a Minimag but now with a X-Valve.

So I assume you have a Level 7 Minimag with all stock AGD parts?

1.) Remove valve and oil all internal o-rings. Including, powertube o-ring and on/off o ring. (don't use too much)

2.) Make sure you have all stock AGD parts, not ANS or aftermarket internals.

3.) Reassemble the valve and put it back in the mainbody.

4.) Remove the barrel and place a few drops of Autolube or other paintgun oil in the ASA.

5.) While pulling and holding the trigger back, air up the gun. (screw in tank) Fire the gun several times to get the oil running through the valve. (you took off the barrel to prevent oil buildup on it)

6.) Listen for any leaks and try to figure out where the leak is coming from.

If you are holding the trigger back and it's leaking, then the leak is coming from your on/off valve. Remove the on/off and replace the o-ring(s) in there.

If it leaks when you let go of the trigger, then it's coming "out of the barrel". Then replace the powertube o-ring.

Or better yet, replace and oil all o-rings in the Minimag and you should be fine. Get yourself a spare parts kit.

If the barrel leaks won't stop after you tried everything, get a powertube spacer kit.

To add to the info jewie27 posted, if you find that the leak is coming from the powertube area down the barrel and an o-ring change doesn't fix it, then you will probably need a shorter powertube spacer. Read the number on the side of the one that is in there now and use the next shorter one. These leaks can occur over time due to wear on the sear tip which causes the bolt to sit farther forward in the breach. The powertube spacers allow you to compensate for that change. At some time in the future you will need to change the sear once the wear gets excessive. It takes a lot of use before this is needed though, so go have some fun.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.
