    New RT ULE bolt sticks

    Hi guys,

    I have what I am sure is a teething problerm with my new ULE, and was hiping someone can help. I've checked a few thread to make sure the issue has not already been covered, and couldn't find excatly the same problem. Please bear with me if you've heard it before ;

When I first gassed up the marker it was fine, (test shots only however) with the std cg grip frame, with a little short stroking on my part as I've playing stock for a while and wasn't used to it.

I had a Y grip waiting to replace it with from my last MicroMag. However once gassed with my Y grip, the marker suffered bolt stick often and as a result a very sloe rate of fire, when it fired at all. Velocity was also low. Increasing velocity at the reg simply caised venting.

When the shorter of the long springs was tried, the marker failed to even cock on gas up.

Could this be the rear part of the sear not activating the on/off?

Any help would be appreciated, as living in NZ I pretty much have to do this myself. Most airsmiths here aren't too interested unless it's electro. PS, the Mag is equipped with factory ULT in cae that may be contributing. I have noticed that looking at the surface of the part of the sear that actuates the on/off from the rear with the valve out is uneven and slopes down from left to right, but it didn't seem to make much difference with the grip fram it came with.

    front screw

maybe back the front grip frame screw out a little .. you might have it to tight ..

thats about all i can think of .. if the mag was fine before you changed the frame ...

give that a try and see if that works ....

    good luck ..

Aye, if you're using a ULE mainbody, you have to have about equal torque on the two screws that hold the marker together. Otherwise, it bends the body ever so slightly, and your bolt will rub or stick. I just tighten or loosen the back one by hand a little bit every time I switch anything around and gas it back up.

Hope you get it working to your liking!

Hi guys, I've backed off the screws a little and it does run, but slowly and with many fluffs and a few mangled balls. I've just replaced the main spring to the second longest so thast should break less, and it gassed up OK but still sticks some (2 from 5). Velocity as yet untested. Some of those fluffed shots are mine, but most aren't. I was thinking I'd bear with it for a while, to let the various o rings wear in. Having tested the velocity adjustment, the reg won't go much higher without venting, which is the same problem (low and irregular velocity) I'm having with the lvl 10 in my other Mag, a Micromag with a std valve.

Should I persevere or change carriers/shims per the trouble shooting guide?

Thanks again for the help, I'm really keen to make my Mag sing!

Have you checked the tank output pressure? If it is below 700 psi the ULT will chuff easy, will not recharge fast enough. The stock on/off will recharge better at lower pressures. Even though your tank may be listed as putting out a higher pressure, it may not be. My crossfire is listed at 850psi but only put out 700psi. My brothers bulldog was listed at 800 and only put out 650psi. You can also try putting in more shims into your ULT.

Thanks calcan, I will check with a few other tanks. Mine is a centreflag preset 850, but I'll check it against some others. Is there an easy objective method to test a preset?

The easiest way is to find someone that has a guage on their air source adaptor, or get a guage if you have an extra outlet on your ASA. How many shims do you have in your ULT, try adding more if you can.

Right then, bolt stick appears to have been sorted with the next carrier up plus 2 shims. I've added some shims (3) in sucession to the on/off but the marker now sometimes refuses to fire. The install however calls for more shims if that happens, but it seems to get worse with each shim?

Ok now i might sound like an idiot but my mag was having the sane problem. i tried messing with shims spring ect...Then i went back to factory set shims and carres. then i oiled the crap out of it.oil the on/off so the pin can move easer. then unscrew the valve in two halfs and drop oil down the obviuos one(with all the crap sticken out). then pt oil down the area with the carres for lvl10. finally 6 drop down the asa. and then dry fire a lot with no barrel (sucks cleaning all that oil out of ur barrel)

oo and oil the on off and carrer o-ring
                    use alot of oil
sounds stupid but worked for me

Gotta be worth a go Pokemon. Certainly, lubrication beyond that required by the classic valves of yore seems to be important, as there is no way of telling how long any marker has been sitting before retail sale.

The only bother seemed to be that the trigger feel was soooooooooo good with 5 shims, except the sucker just keeps stopping dead. I'll take it all apart, lube it and see how I go.

                      Thanks for your input!
