new gun

just got my minimag yesterday...what a sweet gun. I was wondering, what should be the first thing i should consider doing to increase performance on it? I've been looking at barrels, and have concluded that J&J ceramics fit my style. I'va also got a nitro duck 68cu 3Kpsi bottle waiting to be hydrostatically tested, so i was also wondering, which cradle do most of you prefer around here? I narrowed my list to the KAPP Drop Zone II or the Benchmark centerdrop raptor.

any feedback would be of much use. Thanks.

Well, you already have one of the BEST upgrades, a nitro tank, if you really want to push the envelope of your 'mags performance, a ReTro Valve is pretty much the only way to up the valves performance, as for barrels, if you use a variety of paint brands, an interchangeable bore size barrel would be a good choice to ensure you have a good paint to barrel match. a Warp Feed will change your game and perhaps a good 2X grip frame such as the AGD Intelliframe is a good choice. as for the drops, I personally like my KAPP DZII setup (see pics via the link below my sig). So in order, I would personally upgrade in this order

Agitated Loader (presuming you dont already have one)
Warp Feed
Good Barrel (presuming your paint fits well with your current barrel, otherwise good barrel should be switched with warp feed)
ReTro Valve
Intelliframe 2X Trigger Frame
well, thats my take on the whole situation, hope it helped some.

wow...what a nice gun. Yes, i do have a 12v revvy, and i dont think i'll be needing a warp as i will probably not get into tourneys very deep. I'll keep it in mind though. I KNOW that the j&j ceramic is a great barrel, and I will look into the intellifeed grip.

quick question...what makes the retro valve so much better than stock valves and are they worth the price?

the retro valve is better because of its incredibly high recharge rate, up to 26 cps (cycles per second) with out any shootdown. also it has the reactive trigger, meaning that it returns the trigger with more force than it takes to pull.

          Firstoff, thanx for the compliment!

As for the warp, you should give it a try, it will literally improve your game and change how you play, but if your more of a hardcore woods player it may get in your way during crawling and such, either way, I suggest try it first. I have one, I love it, and seriously doubt I could bring myself to playing without my warp, and I'm sure others out there would agree with me :)

Just make sure the J&J fits the paint you use, to get good accuracy out of the barrel for the ReTro Valve, I'd say it's worth it, I LOVE the reactive trigger, feels super nice, short and crisp (my trigger pull with my Z-Gripped, ReTro Mag has a 2mm Pull). What makes the ReTro Valve so much better, as stated before, is the increddibly fast recharge, and the reactive trigger. The reason it recharges so fast, and has the reactive trigger, is the valve recharges at line pressure, meaning if you run an RT mag at 800PSI input pressure, the valve will recharge with 800 PSI before the reg starts to do its job and regulate the pressure down to around 400 PSI operating pressure. after you pull the trigger, and releace, you'll have 800 PSI pushing down on the on/off pin which forces the pin and the trigger rod back out with 800 PSI giving it the 'reactive' trigger. You'll fall in love with your 'mag all over again with an RT valve. :)

            Yeah

Ariestsheft is right, the retro valve is especially good for people who are just starting out with mags and because new mag users tend to short stroke and the retro valve makes that a tough task. I dare you to find a hopper or gun that it can't keep up with.

              4) ReTro Valve
              5) Intelliframe - I prefer blade triggers myself

It'll be a sad day when I won't be able to upgrade my Mag any further.......

thank you all for your enlightening comments. I think maybe after i recharge my funding capabilities, and setup balance and triggers, i'll get to the ReTro. I'm not officially employed, and so funding on my part is limited.

I continue to become more infatuated with AGD as time goes by....(what, 3 days?). I was impressed the first time i saw the internals of a 'mag, and have grown to love it.

My dad was somewhat skeptical towards 'mags, and began to lean towards 'cockers, but as time has gone by i guess you could say 'I converted him'.

I'm very proud to behold such an advanced gun, and am especially proud of AGD and their contribution to the growing sport of paintball. I can see how it can and will soon become the #1 activity in which father/son or father/daughter can 'bond'.

                  there. 2 cents.

                  <edit>

i understand that the ReTro recharges at a faster rate, but what chabge was made to accomplish this? thanks.
