Ok so i got a custom ULE mag a few months ago and the bolt will not reset to the ready position. The bolt looks like its reset all the way to the ready poition but is actually like a few millimeters away from it. If i push it just ever so slightly with a battle swab it will click and fully reset. I have tried all the easy fixes for this such as adujusting the field strip screw, adding and removing shims to the ULE kit, lubbing the on/off and still i get the same result the bolt will not reset after a shot or two. Whats the problem with it, has anyone here experienced anything similar? Also i know at alot of other marker forums there are either mods or long time members that allow you to ship them your marker and will diagnose and fix the problem in a day or two and send it back aslong as you slide them a few bucks and take care of the shipping both ways. Either way i need to get this sorted out as i want to use my new makrer for an upcoming scenario (beginning of april) and im pretty stumped as to what is going on with it. Any help that can get me up and running for the game would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

its the FS screw... i'd put money on it.
next time the bolt doesnt return tighten that screw with a wrench till it clicks.Comment

Well i have tried adjusting the FS screw but that is only a temporary fix. The bolt will rest but then after a few dry fires the bolt sticks again then ill loosen it and so on and so on in a viscious cycle. I have never been so frustrated in my life with a mag. As for the level 10 concerns im not even shooting the marker with paint in it while this is happeneing. I have ran paint through it before but i get the same result with paint as i do without. And it doesnt pinch a ball at all it does everything correctly in the cycle but resetting the bolt all the way. there will be another ball chambered in the firing position but the bolt is just a fraction of the way from being reset. So anymore adivce? Im seriously looking into trying to take or ship this to someone to sort this out for me if it means getting to use my marker in time for my scenario in April. Ive never had this kind of frustration with any marker ever especially a mag. So what are the other suggestions? The FS screw doesnt seem to solve the problem but on a 1-3 shot basis. Anymore help out there? Anyone know of any place that does tech work on mags that can have this sorted out quickly for me? Anything at all that can help me or someone else get this sorted out would be greatly appreciated.Team: Screaming Munkys Scenario Team

When your bolt sticks, does it stick such that you can reset it with your finger or just stop dead?
Bolt stick is a standard and easily remedied problem with carrier sizing. Youv'e probably nutted that out already.
If it hangs, ie will not respond to trigger at all and won't reset with your finger, it may be the on/off pin being a touch tight a sthey can be when new and not sufficiently lubricated. My ULT had a tiny amount of stiction in the lower part of its travel, which I remedied by working the on/off manually (and carefully) for about 10 minutes until it freed up some, lubricated the crap out of it, and hey presto, my fifth mag worked a treat.
Have a go, and let me know!Comment

Use a bigger spring! I had the same trouble with my Tac One but then switched to the red spring and that fixed it.Comment

The sticking that im gettting in the bolt is right before it is all the way reset. All i have to do is very lightly press on it with a battle swab and it moves the last millimeter or two to being reset. Ill try the carrier suggestion but that wont be till the weekend because i dont have any air in my tanks and i couldnt get to a field over the weekend. Ill definilty check back in on this thread once i get the results. Hope its just the carrier but if i remember correctly im using the smallest one and the next one up leaks but ill see how it all goes this weekend.Team: Screaming Munkys Scenario Team

I agree on the on/off. I was having the same problem with my emag when I first got it (bought used). after I got the on/off pin really well oiled, I never had that problem again.Comment

If the carrier o-ring is close to the vent hole, then a shim or two could make it leak even when it normally wouldn't. Quite often people end up using a tighter carrier than needed in order to keep it from leaking. The added tightness causes bolt stick. Always remove the level 10 shims when making adjustments to the carrier sizes. Once you get the correct carrier installed, then proceed to adjust the number of shims.Originally posted by Munky Se7enThe sticking that im gettting in the bolt is right before it is all the way reset. Ok so i didnt even know it but one of my roommates had about 2500k of air left in one of his tanks so he let me use that to try the carrier suggestion. So i popped in the next size up and the bolt reset fully almost all the time. But there still were times where the bolt wouldnt reset all the way. When it didnt reset it would hiss like it was leaking then click the bolt would reset. So i decided to go up another carrier size. Gassed it up no leaking started dry firing and my God that thing was shooting sweet the ULT was super soft and i was ripping. But after the initial shots i fired i got some leaking. then i shot again no leaking. Then i shot some more and the leak came back in was worse basically every other time i fired a few shots. I prolly shot it about a hundred times and the leak pretty much was coming back on and off. Does it sounds like this leak will go away, because i really loved how the marker shot with that carrier on. Well im outta here to go to the field to get my tanks filled then to work. Ill be back later tonight to do some more tinkering. Anymore words of wisdom to try so that i can get it to work with the 2 grooved carrier would be appreciated.Team: Screaming Munkys Scenario Team

you keep saying this but i havent even put paint through it. And have used no shims as of yet. Maybe when i get to adding shims this information will be relevant but as of now im just working on getting the right carrier so the bolt resets everytime and the marker cycles good. Once i get this done i will start tinkering and adding shims. Thanks for the info though ill keep this in mind once i get it cycling consistantly so that i can start adding shims. Gotta crawl before you you can walk. Well im off to work ill be back later to tinker ill be in this thread and on aim. LaterzOriginally posted by RogueFactorRepeated for emphsasis...

As the carrier o-ring gets broken in, you may need to drop back down a carrier size, especially since you are getting periodic leaking. To have no problems while breaking the carrier o-ring in, try the next shorter(lighter) bolt spring and use the tighter carrier until you get it fully broken it.Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.Comment

i realized that when you get a setup that seems close, you need to make sure its either going to work or its not... i'd always suggest shooting 50 shots.. even dry fires to set all of the components and rule out the hickups that the valve goes thru when you reconfigure...Comment
