Serial numbers same as "born on" date?

No, not talkin' about Budweiser (Yuengling, Newcastle or JWD Honey Brown Ale myself). Just wondering if there's a way to figure out the date of manufacture on my old mag (wasnt called "classic" when I bought it. Have had it since '95 when I moved from my old but venerable (and heavy) VM-68.


OK, my mag's #s are CF16987.

Anybody know what date this could be?
