changing the hose on my gun

i was changing out the old hose on my mag for a longer one so it can reach my tank easier and i noticed a small golden thing in the old hose that i can only assume is an air filter. im running it off of nitro so is it needed? it doesnt fit in my new hose so do i keep the old one?

It's a dirt filter for Co2 use, if you have N2 now you won't need it any longer.
