*unique* "my mag wont fire" thread

hey, im sorry that this is another one of those "my mag won't fire" threads, but i just spent about half an hour teching my gun, don't know whats wrong, have been reffing all day in the hillside, and have bad bad bad allergies... i feel like... just bad. so im going to take the easy way out and ask all you very knowledgable people about waht might be causing my marker not to fire.

    gun specs:
    cf emag
    3.2 software
    xvalve
    lvl10
    A+ clamping feedneck
    45/4500 flatline tank

connecting flatline to xvalve using about 8 inches of macro.
    what i did:
last wednesday, i aired up my new flatline tank for the first time, had a few problems, due to me being a total newb witht he tank, but i got everything worked out. no permanent damage. i took the tank/gun to a big open field near where i live and shot around 200 old soft paintballs. the tank worked fine. i had the pressure around 1000-1100 psi, using a combination of mech-rapidfiring and electro-walking the trigger. the gun worked flawlessly. when i got to my dads house, i took the xvalve apart, switched o-rings to the next smallest carrier(lvl10 was hitting quite hard, i wanted softer) put some oil in the 90 elbow(which then moved up to the xvalve) and dry fired the remainder of my air into some kleenexes(sp?). gun was still working flawlessly. i stuck my finger in there, and was amazed at how light the lvl10 was.(i assume it is/was properly tuned now, feels like dropping a shoe on your finger from 2 inches above).

today i reffed at my local field. at the end of the day, i got a tank fill to 3000 psi.i drove home, turned the tank from on to off. great, the sear pops out like it always has. not so great, i pull the trigger(in mech) and it doesn't fire. not only does it not fire, but the bolt doesnt even move. its not like when you fire, and the bolt sticks an 8th inch from the back position, leaks, and waits for you to stick your finger in it and push it back. it feels like when you dont have enough pressure to cycle the bolt, and you just push the on/off pin up and down without enough pressure for the bolt to move forward once released. i had turned down the output pressure in my tank previously, and just in case the guage was 100 psi off or something, i went and got an alan wrench, and put the pressure up to 1000 psi. nothing. exaclty the same. i increased the velocity, degreased the velocity, decreased the pressure. when taking off the xvalve, (still had pressure in it) the on/off assembly popped out and i leaked my air out(good thing, just the pressure int he xvalve and macro line) and then got stuck on the rail as i tried to pull it out. i stuck the thubscrew in the hole, and pushed it back in enough to take the valve out, then stuck it the rest of the way back int he hole with my hand. *is it supposed to pop out like that under pressure?* i mean the whole on/off assembly, not just the on/off pin. anyways, I took the xvalve out, oiled the bolt(in case of bolt-stick) put more oil in the 90 degree elbow. assembled it, same problem. occasionally it would fire, but it was like when the xvalve was half out, and not where it was supposed to be at all. completely random.
anyways, i thought i knew most of what could happen to a mag, but this stumped me, if anyone knows what it is, please help me. thanks

    Hi

Sounds to me like a On/Off problem.
Did you Oil the On/Off assy?? I mean take it out and oil it really good????

Because somethings sounds liek the Problem i had with my ULT. I feel Pressure on the Trigger but nothing happend.
I had a stuck On/Off pin. Tooked it apart and oild the Hell out of it. After that no trouble.

But however. Try the on/off first. if that is not the problem, change your LvX carrier.

Thats all i would try sofar....

that sounds like good idvice, i hadn't thought of that at all, even though i noticed tha the on off assy was coming out, i didnt make the connection. thanks, ill try it later tonight.
about the carrier, ill switch it back if the on/off thing doesnt work, but i doubt it will make a difference, becasue i put massive amounts of oil through it between today and wednesday, and it was working fine, not stick or anything before even though i moved down a half size.

        Hi

I had a problem on my Classic RT. It was leaking out of the Barrel and sometimes need a long time to reset the Bolt and I only could feel Pressure on the Trigger. And it was the On/Off on mine.

BTW do you use the ULT on your E-Mag????

like AGD22 said, I know it might sound stupid, but try screwing your tank in further to the asa. My ASA with a on/off is pickey about where the tank sits.

no no no, i have a flatline tank, as in its an adjustable, not a screw in. there is a little switch on the bottom of the tank that you turn, closes/opens the valve. and yes i know it was ON when i was testing it, sorry if i didnt make that absolutely clear... im not an idiot.

little ho, the gun isnt leaking out the barrel, and you cant use the ult trigger kit on an emag w/o screwing up the electronics, besides, i like the mech for the reactivity and how comfortable it is. if i want to shoot faster i switch to electro. i havent tried oiling the on/off yet becasue my allergies were killing me last night. i think i'll go try it now and come back and post on if it works or not.

ok, i've got my gun working now, and working well, but i have no idea how or why...

first, i took the on/off assy out and pulled the pin out, put oil int he hole, stick the pin in and out and twisted it to get the oil evenly distributed, stuck the on/off back in the xvalve, aired it up, and had the same problems. i didnt think it was the lvlX carrier because just pulling the bolt off and sticking it back on, there wasn't much friction there. figuring i had nothing left to lose, i took a strap wrench to my xvalve(not hard, was my second time opening it up) and looked at the internals. nothing wrong, closed the xvalve back up. next, i took the back velocity adjuster completely off the back of the xvalve. nothing wrong there either. put it back on, decided to test the thing one more time. as i was airing it up, letting the pressure rise slowly(partially off when turning it on), i shot it once, and it fired normally. i shot again, it didnt fire, but i noticed the presure was down to around 500 psi. when it had reached around 700 psi again, i fired and it shot fine. after that it chuffed a couple times, got stuck and i had to press the bolt back a couple times, and shot the rest fine. i put an old shirt over the end and dry-fired it about 50 times to get the oil out, and then proceeded to put e barrel back on, cover abck on, and run around my house rapid-firing at 900 psi(probably around 8-9 bps) when my tank got down to around 1200 psi, i decided to crank it up to 1100 psi again. i just have to say whoa! i can rapidfire with it at 1100 psi as fast as i can walk the trigger. if i crank it up to 1200 psi, i might be able to get up 2-3 bps higher. i'm not great at judging trigger speed, but (not lying) i think it would get close to 15-16 at 1200 psi, and i think it got around 13-14 at 1100 psi. i'm basing this off the fact that it was a little bit faster than i can shoot my spyder imagine, which is capped at 13-14 bps, and i can regularly outshoot the circuit board.

thanks for the help guys. i can honestly say that last night, i was ready to send it away for service(or maybe i'd just leave it in my room for a long time) but i'm playing next weekend with a large group of friends, and i really dont want to downgrade to a spyder imagine until i could get it fixed. if little_ho hadn't gotten me to take my xvale apart one last time, it would still be in pieces in my room, intstead of happily firing away. i give props to little_ho, AGD and especially AO for a place where we can fix such problems.

Agh, Ive got the same problem you had Jeneral...Xcept on an entirely mech mag. Too bad you have no idea what did it. If we could pin this thing down, Im sure many people would be pleased to know what in the world is happeneing to their mags!

heh, you know, i think i figured out hwat it was... and you're goimng to hit yourself and me for telling you... i think my velocity was adjsuted too low. In the first post, i said i adjusted my velocity up and down. i think i adjusted it down first, and then not back up far enough to fix it. i think this is the cause of my problems because last weekend, i took my marekr to the field and it worked fine, but at the end of the day started having this problem again, and i had to sit out the last two games. I got home, shot a few more rounds, did a little critical thiking, adjuted the velocity up about 1/4 turn, and it stopped having the problem. I ran the rest of my tank dry with no more missed shots. I just never thought about it because i figured my pressure being high enough would make up for my velocity being lower, and since i was chronoing right at 280 or so, i didnt want to turn my velocity up because i would have to turn my pressure down (ie. less reactivity).
