    Lawnsprinkler Hell

    It seems my Retro likes to abuse on/off top O-rings. Why? Dunno.

    Gun goes into lawnsprinkler - replace on/off top O-ring, problem ceases.

    Dry fire a couple of tanks o' air - no issues.

    Take the gun out and fire a few dozen rounds - no issues.

    Take the gun to the field and empty a hopper - lawn sprinkler again!

    Any ideas? Dirt in the air tank? Too much input pressure (850psi)? Burr on the on/off pin or the o-ring seat?

      Sounds like your velocity is spiking too high probably due to dirt in the regulator. It may initially check out ok over the chronograph but under playing conditions it starts to spike and can even cause bleed-off out the back which is the lawn sprinkler sound.

      Its an easy fix by cleaning your regulator and o-rings associated with the regulator.

      I once had the same problem. It was caused by a grain of sand that got into the regulator.
      Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

          Oops, I said bleeding out the back. I meant bleeding out the front as when the on/off is held closed.

          Does the trigger pull get any stiffer when this problem occurs? It did on mine due to the increase in internal regulated pressure. I changed the on/off teflon o-ring about three times before I finally took the regulator apart and did a total clean. That's when I found the grain of sand. I could only think that where there was a single grain there could be more, and possibly the cause of my problems with the on/off as well as the regulator. The problem never returned once it was cleaned.

          By the way, I had an AGD trained tech standing right beside me when this was happening. He was baffled too.

          It does seem like you may have a dirt problem.

              No the trigger remains the same.

              But the dirt theory is a good one.
              I can open 'er up and look inside.

              ***Have no fear folks... Tom himself trained me.... oooh trigger rod looks adjustable.****

                  it sounds like there may be a burr on the on off pin whare it slides in to that o ring. this could be causing the problem.
                  Sorry for the spelling. Im still working on it.
