Easy Newb Question

What is the difference between an automag classic and a minimag? Do they use the same valves and bolts? Same barrels? Do intelliframes fit on both? Are they (minimags) just smaller? Advantages/Disadvantages between the two?

Anybody own one of each? Which do you like better and why?

They're basically the same thing. The minimag valve has 4 stars to the classic valve's 1. The minimag body looks cooler IMHO. Other than that they are practically identical. Any thing that will fit on the classic will fit on the mini and vice versa. It just comes down to which you like better or which one you can more easily afford cause all the parts are interchangeable.

Whoa...are they different valves because they have different stars? What do the stars mean? I thought they had to do with sending the gun into AGD for repairs?

Thanks though...I was thinking of getting one of each but I'd much rather do that if all of the parts are interchangeable so I can set them up differently and mix and match.

The only difference between the two is the body, and the minimag comes with a vertical adapter. The valves are exactly the same. The stars are for free factory maintenance, you would get more free service with the minimag than with a classic, but I have owned one for 12 years and have never sent mine back. All you need is a parts kit and you can fix pretty much anything with it. As far as interchangeability, they use the exact same accesories.
