hey i just got my emag, but i got it without a battery charger. i have the adapter that attaches to the battery and says aigun designs on it, but i dont have a wall adapter. i went to an electronics store and bought a floating charger (12v 200 mA output). i got a "floating" charger because the guy at the store said it wouldnt over charge the battery. however, when i try to charge it, the floating charger wall adapter i bought realllly heats up, to the point where it kind of melted and broke (whoops). anyways, should i just return this and get the one havoc recomends? any issues with over charging? or is that impossible? sry i dont know my electronics well...

has anybody else ever tried one of these
I to was in the same boat at one time, the charger that i had didn't work and for the same cost of a new agd charger i bought this(see link), this was recommended to me by a local battery shop( and yes they specialize in nothing but batteries)
it works great and u can get it at most hobby stores, and if your lucky and still have the old charger you can re wire it so that you dont have to take your battery out of the housing, you just gut the internals and just use the housing and the connectors
anyways can someone let me know if they have tried this before?
note: this is for people who know they have a bad charger

4. Charging the Battery
The most valuable information you could have about your charger is not to lose it. It's a very expensive replacement part($80) due to all the labor it takes to build it properly. This is why it's also not a good idea to try and build your own charger. When charging the battery in the car, only use the cord supplied by AGD. If you want a wall charger, not just anything will do. Go to Radio Shack and buy thier 12-Volt 1500mA AC-to-DC Power Adapter($19.99)(pictured below). Make sure it has the blue tip with the tip inserted in the proper polarity! Dont charge your battery overnight. When it's charging, you'll see a red light. Green is supposed to be charged, but the light actually turns green once the battery has about a 80% charge. You could leave it on for about another 30-60min to let it completely charge. A completely dead battery shouldn't take longer than 4-6 hours to completely charge. A properly charged battery should read 20-22volts

what u r telling me is fine but in response to your response thier are other options, i also have the radio shack power supply and i think it does fine if you look at my original post it states that if you know that you have a bad charger (talking about the charger itself not the power supply)this is an option. it cost me just as much as a new charger direct from agd and it will charge more than just the battery for the e/xmag mag, 1-14 cells nicad and nimh as well and it will charge them to peak capacity, my charger was bad it was not putting out any voltage at all. i am not making a charger i bought this as a replacement for it and i dont have to watch it charge it will stop chargeing and go to trickle all by itself and the battery will be at about 100% capacity no over chargeing

muzikman no offense but i did a search on the web for the proper procedure and not to go into detail with numbers but all places i checked recommend that a fast charge be applied to nimh batteries, until one of five methods for checking charge is is applied and then switching to trickle charge so i think you are mistaken
and what about using the charger i mentioned above?
