Foregrip Poll

I'm looking at doing something to the foregrip of my mag...not sure which way to go. I might end up buying a minimag as a back-up gun/project. I was thinking I'd take my ANS expansion chamber off the automag and put it on the minimag. I was also thinking I might put a regulator on the automag to replace the ANS ex chamber. However, I've read some conflicting posts about regulators. Some opinions seem to be that a regulator is "overkill" and actually could cause performance issues by starving the valve of air. Now, if that's that case, then a ex chamber or foregrip would be best. The only advantage of the ex chamber would be it would "possibly" (depending on your valve and rate of fire) allow you to use CO2...allthough probably with a remote line (my valve hates CO2 even with an expansion chamber...and I have a fast trigger finger).

So...what do you do? What have been your experiences? I hate to spend $50 on a regulator...then have it starve the valve.

I prefer to run the hose straight from the asa to the valve, and i plan on getting a foregrip from deadlywind as soon as they are available.

I liked my old Omega foregrip lol I remember maby a week after i got my first mag it came with a gas through I took the hoses off it and just ran 1 line

If your mag is going to be fed a straight diet of HPA then you can either 1, put a gas-through grip on the front and run the air line through the grip to the valve, or 2, run the line straight from the Air system to the valve.

Because of the input pressure required by the Mag a regulator between the valve and the air system's reg would be doing next to nothing and could possibly be hurting your gun's performance. Here's the reason, the Mag can take any input pressure up to around 1000psi or so, factory says ideal input is between 600 and 800psi. That being the case any preset screw-in type or adjustable type HPA tank will be fine dumping directly to the valve. Since there are very few Preset tanks that excede 900psi for output and an adjustable tank you can set pretty much where ever you want the valve itself is a regulator, and there should always be at least 100psi difference between your regs to limit starving the airways. With a third reg there's no way you can concievably maintain that pressure gradient while still keeping the valve happy at high ROF.

Also, the X-Chamber will also serve as a choke point for your air way if you use it as a gas-through with HPA. There is an advantage to having a Gas Through foregrip as it will act as a reserve of regulated air for the valve to draw from in the event that your air system is having a hard time keeping up with your RT.

Id you *do* use CO2 with a remote line and expansion chamber, I doubt you'll ever get liquid in the valve. For years I ran an expansion chamber and anti syphon tank mounted horizontally under the grip, and the only time I got liquid in the gun was when it was around 40 degrees outside in the winter.

Foregrip

What I have on my Mag is a Foregrip. Because my Adapter feeds straight to the valve. And I like the way it is no cords by my grip nothing in the way. I think it is better and what you should do is get a nice looking Foregrip if you dont like the way yours looks.

I definitely want some type of foregrip...I'm not a speedball player shooting one handed...I need a place for my left hand to hold on.

I was thinking about just getting a foregrip without running the line through it...but doesn't the line get in the way of your trigger frame if it just runs directly up to your valve?

I think the early consensus is foregrip...no regs, no ex chambers. That being the case...any recommendations on set-ups? Good foregrips. Good gas-through foregrips.

Also...and I forgot to ask this question initially...would you recommend steel braided hose or some type of plastic hose (macroline?)? I used to use steel-braided on my spyder but it tended to leak at the junctions. I switched to a microline...but it was hard to bend and when it started to curve too much it wanted to leak at the inputs/adaptors. Plus, the microline tends to wear out faster if you take it apart often.

My current set-up has steel braided going from the expansion chamber to the valve...and the cool thing is that it has quick disconnects...which would probably be a must for mags (not a as much of a must for blowbacks where the line just runs from the bottomeline to the ex chamber)?

I'm thinking of putting on a KAPP K2 drop on it...if anyone else uses a KAPP and has a picture of how they got their's set up (which on/off, which line, foregrip, etc...)...I'd really appreciate taking a look at it.
