    Sticking Bolt

Within 2-5 shots, the bolt will get stuck forward, and I have to stick my finger in the breech and push the bolt back about a 1/8" until it clicks back into position. I am new to AutoMag ownership, and have no idea what this is. I have cleaned an lubed the main surfaces, but to no avail.

One clue that may help. When cleaning I noticed that the bolt has a point, when being slid back and forth, that where it sticks. It sticks in the way something does when pushed against a detent. There is resistance until the detent is pushed aside, then slided freely.

    Thanks

I assume Level 7, it is not a Level 10. Stainless body.

Stainless bodies can have a valve with the level 10 bolt.

If it is the level 7, then check the condition of your bolt spring. When is the last time you changed it? It is a consumable item in the mag.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

          Still working on the bolt

Update: I replaced the spring with a new one, and oiled the reg. Now what happens is that on the 1st or 2nd shot the valve seems to retract, but air escapes forward from the bolt. I try to push the bolt backwards, but am unable to move it.

I am still concerned that the bolt does not slide smoothly onto the tube. It has a friction point where it sticks. See below

Get rid of the spring and get a spacer kit or, better yet, a Level X.

Check for irregularities in the bolt and powertube. They should be ok, but it is possible that something got bent out of place (most likely spacer or something of that nature). Remove the powertube parts. Check them. Replace the powertube o-ring. If it still leaks when the bolt is back, use a shorter powertube spacer.

I had the same problem with my automag.

What I did was open up the powertube assembly, I don't have spacers, but a spring. I cleaned and oiled the the 2 o-rings and the little spring. I also changed the regulator seat.

I also changed all the o-rings in the on-off assembly, especially all the small white plastic o-rings. After I did that the things works great.

my bolt did also slide on fine except when near the bottom when I had to push it a bit harder so it made contact with the bumber.

                  I hope this helps.

                  Regards

                  Marcus

C - Are you using a Level 10 bolt kit? If so, add more shims. You'll have to find a fine ballance in the number of shims you use though because too many will cause you to have a leak and too few will leave your bolt sticking.

Personally after I broke in my Level 10 I'm using all 5 shims, 1.5 carrier and the silver (medium) spring. If I use 4 shims I end up with my bolt getting stuck forward after a chuff.
