    Air Flow Questions

    A couple questions:

    1) If regulators and expansion chambers cause problems with Mags (based on previous threads) because the AGD valves operate best when they receive direct air as they are their own regulator...then why do I see so many pictures of Mags with regulators and expansion chambers?

    2) Now lets say that regulators/X chambers are "bad" for Mags...how do "gas-thru foregrips" work? Is it just a grip and the macroline runs through it and then out a hole near the top? Do you have to drill the top hole? I have really big hands...what is the biggest foregrip you guys have seen?

    3) Sort of unrelated question...I went to the paintball store today and was going to get a guage for my drop. I told the guy I usually use CO2 and he said I didn't need a guage, just to plug the hole. He said a guage wouldn't do anything because the CO2 is liquid for the most part. After I thought about it, I realized he was right. Then why do so many low-end Spyders come standard with guages on their stock cradles?

regulators and x-chambers are 2 different things. regulators, as the name states it regulates the air to a specific psi. and X-chamber is just a gas thru which mean it will have the same out as what the tank is giving out.

as for the guage. people like to know what psi the tank is giving out.

When they're talking about expansion chambers being restrictive it's only in reference to HPA. Ocasionally people want to leave them on so they have a foregrip or so they can switch back to CO2 when they choose to. Some expansion chambers are almost gas through, some are really complicated with a lot of different smaller chambers inside. Either way if you look closely at CO2 plumbing you'll notice many places that are restrictive, like all those tiny little holes in the ASA(s). I don't think an expansion chamber will make it worse, and my complicated one sure doesn't hurt the gun.

Gas through is just that. Gas comes into the bottom, goes strait through and comes out of the top. No extra chambers inside. Since the inside of the gas through is (usually) at least as large as the gas lines themselves, this is not a problem really.

I've has a gauge mounted on my 'Mag for years using CO2. It helps to know what the tank pressure is ... granted the tank pressure will fluctuate with temperature but you'll get to know when it's time to get the tank refilled. This is especially true on a 'Mag ... the gun either shoots, or bloop bloop bloop chuff chuff. On my (good) Autococker I have two gauges on there. One gauge shows the input pressure going to the vertical reg and the other shows me the output of the vertical reg going to the LPR. This one is helpful when tuning the gun so I can adjust the vertical reg and to tell if the reg or valve is wonky. Gauges look nicer than plugs too (c:
