    removing valve from hpa tank.

I need to remove the valve from my hpa tank. Its a pmi 68/3k. it is out of hydro and the local dive shop will hydro it, but only after the valve is removed.

I have removed and reinstalled valves on co2 tanks many times to install/adjust anti syphons.

what I want to know is what is the difference in removing a hpa valve. I have heard on here before you can't use loc tite due to the fibers in the bottle. has anybody else on here removed their own hpa valves?

You should have like an airsmith do it, you could hurt someone if you dont do it correctly.

Agreed, if you don't know what you are doing. I use a Rigid strap wrench to remove HPA regs, as well as to torque them back down.

I do it all the time. There is a special tool that they use to remove the regs. However, I find a good pair of soft-jawed channel locks , a big soft-jawed vise, and a heat gun work just fine. When replacing the reg, i've use a DROP of BLUE locktite to keep the reg secure. Do NOT use RED. DO NOT USE A FLAME to loosen the reg. Also, you put the loctite higher up on the threads of the reg. Like 3/4 of the way up. If im not mistaken, the threads are certainly metal of some sort and the loctite wont hurt it.

Of course, the BEST way to go about getting a hydro done is through a competent facility that is familiar with paintball equipment. Centerflag and Paintball Mania offer this service, but not in house. I also think its cheaper than going through a scuba shop. My local scuba place gets $45 to have it done. Last time I sent tanks out to a paintball lpace it was under $20.

$27 bucks for hydo at the scuba shop, I didn't think that was that high. I trust them, they are a very competent store, and I can also understand there policy of not removing regs from pb tanks.

Unfortunately I don't really feel like sending it of, and there are no decent or skilled airsmiths in town.

I will look around somemore. There used to be a website that did everything called hydrotesters.com or something like that, I can't seem to find it anymore though.
