Originally the level 7 .68Automags had a restrictive on/off valve. The Reactor valve was a fix for this and it did work. You had to use some of your old parts and rearrange them to make it work. Anyway, AGD came out with a better on/off after a while and the Reactor became unnecessary. Some people claim to have had problems with them but I never did.
If you have the "good" on/off you don't need the Reactor valve. There was a thread here about a month or two ago that showed pictures of the difference but I don't have a link.Comment

Is there a proof that the original on/off was restrictive? I thought that the only thing AGD changed was the on/off top, the old tops could be put upside down, the new ones can go either way.Comment

There are actually a few restrictions in the classic valve. Ever see the hole from the on/off to the power tube? Very small. The old style AGD on/off top used to block half of that hole. Im not sure of the newer one, but I do know the Reactor top was big enough where it didnt obstruct that opening at all.
This was one of those aftermarket parts where either you loved it or hated it. It, like most, had a negligable performance increase if any at all.
There was a shop in Brooklyn back in the day that used to do custom work on mags. One of their biggies was a complete reporting of the valve. Not only did they do an 8-hole mod, but they enlarged the space between the backa nd front of the valve, and the hole that least from the reg to the on/off top. They called it the Vortex mod. They completely opened up the air flow in the classic valve. My friend still shoots his Votex minimag and it truly shoots better than a stock valve.
Once everyone switched to Air from CO2 mags were on their way out anyhow, and AGD was about to release the RT. So people experimenting on the classic valves died out quickly.Comment
