    Battery won't charge...

I'm new to the X-Mag. I just recently bought a brand-new one a couple of weeks ago. I've been recently charging the battery with the car carger that it came with. My battery constantly remains hooked up to my cigarette lighter in my car. However, I've never once seen a green light illuminate. It's always been red. Does anyone know how long it normally takes for the battery to fully charge while its hooked up to your car? Anyway, I wanted to look into it further, so I went and purchased a wall charger according to the specs that are written on my Mag's charger. It came with 10 different sized plugs. I used the one that looks closest to the one on the charger cord. I've been using the wall charger for about a week now, and it takes about an hour 1/2 (sometimes longer) before I finally get the green light to come on. Here's the sucky part....just yesterday I chared my battery to a full green light using the wall charger again; however, to my surprise, when I hooked it up to my X-Mag, I had a low battery indicator flashing on my screen. I then connected it to the wall charger again, where it took a little less than an hour to get the full charge light again. I disconnected it from the wall charger, hooked the battery back on my X, where it told me again that my battery was low. So now my battery won't charge. The problem is, I don't know if it's the battery or the charger that's corrupt. I'm thinking of just buying a new battery from AGD, but I'm afraid that if the charger is bad, that it could ruin the new battery as well. I also think that I might have jacked something up by using that wall charger. I definitly won't use the wall charger once I get my new battery. I don't mind the car charger, but I think it would have been more convenient if AGD could have produced a wall charger as well. Thanks for listening guys. Any advice, before I buy a new battery, would be greatly appreciated.

Does your car have to be running for the cars 12v outlets to receive power. I know that may sound dumb, but I have seen it on 4 diffrent cars. Also, what do the batterys cost? what does the new charger cost? If you are going to conduct trouble shooting by buying new components, buy the cheaper one first unless you have specific reason to believe that the more expensive part is the problem.

Check the voltage of the battery first. It should be around 18v fully charged without a load attached.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

Yeah, I have an '05 CRV, & it does have to be on for the outlet to receive power. I just think its rediculous that the only way to charge the battery is through your car. I'm pretty sure by using the AC wall adapter to charge my battery, that I've ruined the battery somehow. So I'm gonna start by buying a new battery, & charging it through my car. If the battery doesn't charge that way, then I'll know my charger is bad for sure. The battery goes for $40 while the charger goes for $80, so yeah, I'm gonna start the cheaper part of the troubleshooting first. I really hope its the battery thats bad, because if its the charger, then all of this won't be so cheap in the end. As far as checking the voltage of the battery; I know its low, because my guns is letting me know its low & I can't get it to charge up to even check the voltage. Of course, the gun won't fire in electronic mode either. Thanks for your advice fellas.

            charger ?

            I hope this helps

check to c if there r any local shops like "batteries plus" that make custom batteries and stuff
they can check the battery for u and tell you if it will hold a charge and if its any good

they can measure the mah and c if thier is any actual juice in it or its just a surface charge

and i recomend not ordering a charger from airgun or getting the radio shack one get a charger from your local hobby store that will charge 1 to 14 nicad or nimh batteries they can also measure the mAH, amperage of the battery and the voltage that way u can tell if its really charging the one i recomend is made by eflite pinanacle+ and the model number is EFLC2020

it runs about $100.00 and can be plugged into 120volts A/C or 12volts DC its a smart charger and will not over charge your should charge the battery at around .05 to .08 amps

if u have any questions feel free to IM me

Thanks for all your advice guys, but it turns out that Tunaman mentioned to me that my board could have possibly taken a dump. So he had me go & check the voltage coming out of the battery & charger. The voltage reading was great for both components, 17.5v for the battery, & 26v for the charger. I guess using the AC adapter to charge my battery didn't ruin anything after all. Now my marker is gonna be on its way to him by next week, so hopefully he could figure out whats wrong with it, & possibly, get a new anno job done to it while he's at it. Thanks again for everything fellas.
