    Are dual regs needed?

What is the advantages/disadvantages to having two regulators?

I know Automags have a regulator already, but is a second one detrimental or beneficial or what?

    Any answers/comments appreciated.

If you run HPA on a mag, it's dual regulated.

If you run CO2, it's only single.

The idea is that you are able to stabilize any pressure variations going into the gun. In the case of HPA, you have to use a regulator to get the tank pressure (3000-5000psi) down to something usable. Then the secondary reg brings the tank pressure down to the operating pressure of the gun. With CO2, it's already putting out roughly 800-850psi. (granted that pressure drops as the tank gets colder, nothing a reg can do about that. It can only reduce pressure, not increase it.) However, some people will use a secondary reg on a classic mag to block the CO2 from getting to the valve.

OK so i have my mag, i have a stabilizer good to go for HP and i have a 45/4500 hpa tank

is the stabilizer absolutely nessisary? will it degrade the performance of the marker? im not going to be shooting at 16bps...

but what im really asking is there any benefit to having two or more regulators?

primary Hpa systems have an inherant (sp?) problem. As tank pressure goes from full to, say, 1000psi, the output will rise by 20psi-120psi (even more on many screw-ins). That is the nature of Hpa systems. Now some companys have attempted to negate that issue, but they havent been greatly successful. The best "Balanced" system i have tested (havent tested mac devs conquest yet) was the original max-flow, which was made by Pneuventures (also sold as warrior 200 by pnueventures). later max-flows didnt work as well. My last 'geddon went up 25psi from full to 1000 psi.

So now you have a flucuating output from your airsystem, and the secondary reg keeps the pressure to your gun consistant. Going by ratings for a Palmer stabilizer, the reg has a 70:1 ratio, which mean that it would take a 70 psi change in input, to vary the output by 1 psi. So even though your primary system is varying its output, your gun has a stable air input to it.

Now another thing to remember, Co2 cannot stay liquid under pressures of 600psi. So if your using Co2, set your secondary reg to 575psi or so.
