pure energy 68 45 leakin, need help fast

alright every once in awhile i get board and hook my tank up to my gun and just get my whole set up together. i had enough air in the tank to return the trigger but not enough to actually fire. i put it on and when i took it off it was leaking from the top, where the air should be coming from. ive had this problem before but i think it just went away. i tried screwing it back on and taking it back off thinking maybe the pin was pushed down or sumthing, but it still leaks, i even changed the oring on the top but still no changes. i just put it back with my sstuff and its still leaking, has been for about 30min. does any1 know whats wrong?

Yeah these tanks tend to get gunked up. Since its a preset there is not much you can do, those regs are built so as to keep players from taking them apart as reassembling them incorrectly can be very dangerious. Best bet is to give PE a call and send the tank in for service. Most companys that make thses preset regs are great about repairing replacing them (it probally wont be free, but it should be fairly quick and as good as new when you get it back).

its probably a dirty/ chewed up seal. So first you would need to tear the reg off the tank, then take it appart (they ushally come appart from the bottom up) then replace and clean all the o-rings and seals in there then reassemble. One way or another your gonna need to get the new seals in there, i would just send it to PE rather than order the seals, spend a couple hours fighting the reg off the bottle, rebuilding it all and hopping not to dammage anything in the process, putting it back togeather, then hopping it does not explode on you when you go to get it filled again....

i have the same tank, and had the same problem.

open up the owners manual that came with your tank. look at the exploded diagram. the o-ring that you need to replace is labeled number 7. its the 006 teflon o-ring. to get at it, you unscrew the 2 bonnet lock screws, and use a strap wrench to unscrew the thing. make sure there is zero air in the tank. once you get the bonnet off, the o-ring will either be inside the bonnet, or on the pin valve. take it out, and replace it. if you call up PMI, and your tank is still under warrenty, they will send you the correct o-ring. it just so happens to be, that that o-ring looks identical to the small teflon o-rings in a am/mm parts kit. it is probably the same o-ring.

while i had my tank apart, the pin valve looked kinda scuffed up where it seals against the o-ring. i polished that part.
when you reassemble your tank, be sure to use a strap wrench again and get the bonnet on as tight as it was before.

now my tank only leaks when i am very low on air, and i push the pin in with my finger. it will continue to leak after i take my finger away too. if you hold that part of the tank under water just a little bit, you can see an air bubble grow if there is a leak.

i dont reccomend you do this, because its easy to mess up, and its just plain stupid, and might be dangerous:
one day at the field, during norcal vs. socal, the bonnet on my tank was unscrewing from the rest of my tank when i tryed to take my tank off. it freaked me out, and i was really pissed. so i screwed it back, and left my tank on all weekend.
dangerous part: when i got home, i unscrewed the bonnet screws, stuck a sharpie in through the holes to mark where the screws go, took off the bonnet, and carefully drilled very very very shallow divits where the screws go. so shallow that it was maybe as deep as printer paper is thick. then i reassembled my tank, and locktited those bonnet screws, and screwed those screws down hard. the screws go into the divits, and pretty much lock the bonnet on.
this was back in april, i'v had the tank filled many many times since then, and i have had no more problems.
again, i highly dont reccomend it, as it might be dangerous.

if its just that one o-ring i mentioned thats leaking, it should be prefectly safe to play with it. your shop might even be able to fix it.
