My 68 Classic has me and local shops Stumped

    Ok here it goes......
I bought my 68 Automag Classic about 3 years ago and it worked awesome for the first few months. They have a reputation for being consistant reliable markers and so i was assuming that i shouldnt have any trouble with it.

One day while at the field my Mag started misfiring. On the first trigger pull it would fire the next trigger pull it would stutter then on the third it would just give sort of a pfffff noise. Then it would start all over agian. The bolt is in near new condition and the sear is brand new. Replacing the sear didnt work.

I brought it to a local pro shop and had a tech guy redo the valve. This made the gun work right for about the first 200 shots. Then it reverted to stutter firing. I took it to another pro shop and they just looked at it fired it a coupla times and said he had never heard of it before.

I had given up on the gun until recently when a friend of mine asked if i wanted to go Paintballing and i saw rental gun prices.

Any help on my problem would be greatly appreciated

Check your o-rings in the valve.

You know it sounds like to me the gun is starving for air . Try backing off the on/off knob a 1/2 turn on your ASA adaptor (assuming you have one on your mag) ,if you have a duck bill try backing the bottle off a 1/4 turn. What can happen is that the pin on the top of your bottle gets pushed in to far and that will throttle the air flow alot. Also add a few drops of oil right in to the ASA and dry fire it a few time to see if that helps.

also check the air lines. i once had SS hose that was "pinched" on the inner tubing some how, and it starved the gun.

Make sure the bolt spring is not weak. Replace it. The bolt spring is a consumable item on mags.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.
