    AutoMag Newbie General Q's

I have searched past threads on here and am slowly learning.

I just got an AutoMag in a trade deal and want to use it to play paintball with my father/son group. I know virtually nothing about paintball, but am and avid hunter and shooting competitor. I don't even know what model of automag it is.

It has a 4500psi Carleton tank, but no one out here in the sticks can fill it. Should I just use a CO2 tank on it and sell this carbon fibre tank??

How do I get an owners manual and the video I heard about?

I presume the manual will tell me what type of maintenance to do.

Any info. anyone is willing to offer would be wonderful. Also, maybe someone could point me to some good links to read up on. I am just trying to be a good dad and hang out with my son, his friends, and their dads.

    Thanks!

if you cant get air filled(have you checked any scuba shops?), then i guess you have no choice except to use co2.
is the valve you have shiney silver? if so, then that is a classic valve. it should say 68 automag classic. you can use co2 with it.
you want to do everything you can to keep liquid co2 out of the valve. i would reccomend a palmers stabilizer and a 20 oz. anti-siphoned tank. along with a little more than enough air lines to also help keep liquid out.

if it is an RT or X or any other similar valve, than co2 cannot be used in it.
    upgrade fund: $145

Can you post a picture? You can use Jayloo.com or Imageshack.us to host the pictures. There are a lot of pictures of 'Mags at Jayloo and that might give you a good idea of what it is if you can't host a pic.

You can go to the Automag website to download a manual (I dont remember if they have the videos for sale on website) http://www.airgun.com/

You might want to try seeing if a scuba shop in the area to see if they can fill your tank , mags run so much better on Air than CO2

The nice thing about a mag is that if its shooting there really is no maintenance other than keeping it lubed and clean

anygun will run better on nitro/comp air

i would say sell the nitro tank for a ncie like 24oz anti-siphon(tube inside the tank so it doesnt suck up liquid)

          and a stabalizer

with that combination or also if you want to get a remote that would be even ebtter but not encessary.

basicly you just want to keep the liquid out of the gun.

youl also get more shots out of co2 so that is probly better for you as well with fills not being easy to obtain.

the video is long discontinued, if you have any questions just post here or search it out here

maintenance should only require oiling the gun witha few drops before or after each day of play(with abrrel off)

feel free to take the back field strip screw off and learn the marker(make sure its degased) its pretty simple to see how it works that way as well, just eb carefull if you take the valve halfes apart not to lose anything

good luck, if you have anyquestions feel free to contact me
