    RT bumper shredding

WEll, like my title says, this is the second bumper I've had shred on me. Last time, tuna just got me a new one and patted me on the head and I was all set, but alas, 4 months later it shreded again.. And 4 months is probably osmehting like 3 or 4 days of play for me.

First off, I rapidfire like theres no tomorrow. It really depends on what kind of mood my mag is in, but normally I get that bastard to spew paint like no mech you've seen before.

Secondly, I have the shortest bolt spring on right now. That means theres less force there to sort of "catch" the bolt when it rounds home.

Problem is, I like the short spring I have in there now. My mag doesn't chop, and for once in my life, I dont have to retune/change something when I get to the field. I dont want to change my spring.

Could this bumper shredding be attributed to anything else you guys can think of?

Worst case scenario, I just buy 10 or 20 from one of our fine dealers.

Yeh just glue the bumper on with the glue that is used to mount rc car tires. I read about it on AO and it has worked great. Its alot like super glue. The bumper will last and last.

        gluing the bumpers help

when i first got my mag they wer lasting liek 2 weeks..they seem to be lasting longer and logner each time..not sure why

so if your valve is new it could need some more working in.

also switching to the blue bumpers works i hear but i havent tried it..yet

My two bumpers lasted only for about 8 games, I had no more of those so I put in the blue one, it does the job, but I get the feeling of the gun being a lot bit more bouncy.
I've read in other posts here, one of them by BlackVCG that glueing the bumper does in fact help a lot. So if you still have any of those softer bumpers, glue it.

Try scratching the surface of the valve where bumper sits before using the glue, it helps alot.

Come to think of it mine is shredding as well, and I don't have any repalcement on hand. What should I do? I'm going on my third game. Where could I get some of these bumpers, without having to buy the kit. I need these things fast. I have the clear bumper and it is all chewed up near the center.

I know Tuna has them, just got a couple along with my macro line.

Be sure to go to a hobby store and get some tire cement to tack it down with.

If you call in you can also get them from AGD.

Man, those level 7 bumpers are pretty heavy duty. I hope it doesn't effect my rapid fire!? I'm going to put them in tonite and see what the deal is. Man, I'm nervous. I'm pretty sure it's gonna have some type of effect on my performance. These are completely different bumpers. I'm sure the RT bumper is nice and soft for a reason. Anyways, wish me luck guys.

Use of the blue Classic bumpers in an RT based valve can have negative effects on your valve. Especially with an Xvalve.

The increased shock will weaken the bond between the valve body and powertube, and may possibly create some stress fractures.

Well I spoke to the tech, from AGD and he said it is perfectly fine, to use a blue bumper on an xvalve. My concern is the rapid fire, that I'm so used to. Anyways, my wife wouldn't let my dry fire last nite. She works late tonite, so I'm gonna see whats up when I get home.

Has anyone ever found a plumbing-store replacement for this part, or is it totally proprietary?

Using the blue bumpers is safe, though it will most likely cause more kick.

On the long term, I have no idea... but I'd rather play it safe and use the part that was made for that bolt.

It's probably a better idea to only use the blue bumper in a pinch, say if your RT bumper shred and you happen to have a backup marker with lvl 7. (as was my case one fine day)

Glue that sucker and carry a couple spares..
